I feel like the obsessive fandom for this show is enough to justify its own thread. Plus kinda trying to stay away from Reddit as much as possible. So, who else? The Keep is fucking insane.

I think we probably have enough #blankies floating around to justify a thread

I found The Keep to be basically incomprehensible. And of course this is somehow the new longest episode.

I mean that makes sense, no? The more ridiculous the movie, usually the longer the episode.

Yeah definitely. And there’s a trend lately of the longest episode in each miniseries being one of the director’s least discussed movies, like Sleepy Hollow or Taking Woodstock.

I stan so hard for Sleepy Hollow though.

    Hello fellow blankies!!!!!!!!

I just finally signed up for the Patreon last night. I’m so excited to dive into those. I’m finishing up the Burton mini series first.

The commentaries are delightful. Especially every third, when they’ve been recording for four hours already and are getting REALLLLL loopy.

I think of the ones I’ve listened to, the Ang Lee series was my favorite. I still haven’t listened to a few though- I might go back and do Verhoeven before starting the new one.

How are people enjoying Mann? Goddamn that guy knows how to make a movie.

Had never seen The Insider before but absolutely loved it. I’m a sucker for journalism movies tho.

I’ve honestly never seen a Mann film outside of Public Enemies, and I’m still getting through Edpod Scissorcast before going back to Shyamalan so it’ll be awhile before I get there. Is Heat regarded as his best film? That’s the one I feel like I’ve heard about most

I think Heat is his most popular film, but I think either Thief or The Insider is regarded as his best film. Maybe Miami Vice? People have been really coming around on that one recently. I'm really excited to rewatch it because I saw it in theaters when I was 17 and all I remember is that I don't remember it.

I have one Burton episode left!! I always enjoy the show but I'm definitely excited to hear them talk about movies they're uhhhh interested in again.

Everyone is complaining that Demme is going to start to drag as much as Burton (should be right around the same amount of episodes), but Demme just doesn’t have anything close to the bloat in his filmography. Everything is interesting AND he’s a journeyman so you get a huge mix of genres.

I’m about 100 minutes into Ali and man am I curious to hear David’s defense of it, since I find it to be largely a slog. Great performances though.

I liked Ali a lot but I just watched Miami Vice expecting to love it and I really didn’t! So that’s the episode I’m looking forward to because when it came up on the Keep episode it sounded like they loved it.

The first 30 minutes Ali is some of Mann's most mesmerizing work. I don't think the whole product is as good as that first section. It basically plays like its own short film but I like the movie a lot.

Just finished Burton, heading back for Nolan now since The Prestige is probably my all time favorite movie. Guess I’ll have to figure out if I have any late fees so I can try and get Miyazaki movies from the library
