Bernie wants free college and cancelling all student debt with a Wall Street speculation tax. Warren wants free college and most student debt cancelled with a wealth tax.

Imagine all the fucking things we can do with a speculation AND wealth tax.

Ehhh I’m okay with rich legacy Ivy leaguers not having their debt forgiven but maybe im just a bastard haha

The problem is then those rich legacy ivy leaguers convince the children of small business tyrants in suburban communities that they are almost - just so very close! - to being just like them. It gives them room to say "gee, it's unfair that i have to subsidize these teaming hoards of poor folks, and soon, when you're as successful as me, you'll have to subsidize them too!" and annex the political power of the class that's a rung or two below them as they go undermine the free-education project.

Nah, public programs should be public for everyone. If a Trump wants to attend Ohio State University, let 'em. Universal programs are good because of their universality, not in spite of it.

(Besides, what they get forgiven in debt we can more than take off of them in taxes.)

Well yeah if they want to attend a public university, let them for free.

Private universities? Meh, no thank you, they already get enough money.

Anyone who possesses student debt obviously has some sort of financial disadvantage that is preventing them from paying it off. Cancelling all student debt instead of some would be the most effective way of stimulating the economy.

Also I wouldn't say that just because someone goes to a private instead of public university means they shouldn't have their debt relieved or something like that, that's dumb.

Plus think of the people who don't pursue more education to avoid debt. The impact is incalculable.

And yeah, agreed with @MysteryKnight, all should mean all.

  23. I have some very rich friends that hold their student debt at extremely low rates cause it makes no sense to pay it off at those rates when the money they make can make a higher return. So that’s not totally true.

I 100% did not go the college route because of the cost of it (coupled with laziness and an immaturity that wouldn't have allowed me to take it seriously at all). In fact, I've been thinking of going to school recently but the loans still kind of make me wary of it.
