Wan-Bissaka 95th min own goal to make it 2-1 France. If he's worth £50million I'm worth £25million easy!

They’ve refuted it in public since and a few American reporters who are generally good for these types of stories saying he’s not selling, still feels a little off

Not announced yet, but both Mundo Deportivo and L'Equipe have reported that he refused Barcelona's offer. De Ligt and a bunch of PSG players have started following each other on various social networks today, and there's a buzz around town (and my job) that's unmistakable.

One look at who De Ligt's agent is should tell anyone all they need to know about this situation.

I said it a while back but Bayern would be the ideal place for him - could establish himself there for years, as a club they are at the highest level and with Hummels now gone back to BVB they are in need of another top CB.

Bayern have signed two centre backs already this summer. That move wouldn't make sense for either party.

I know Lucas but who is the other?

Edit: oh yeah Benjamin Pavard, my bad!

Got majorly screwed over by the ref with the added time, as well as var being involved. Got to feel for them, but putting yourself in that position, where the last kick of the game decides it after being 3-0 up, it's hard to argue with.

England got majorly lucky tonight too. Couldn't cope with Japan's press and barely had any of the ball. Very few chances, but took 2 of them and came away with the win. Very harsh on Japan.

    I do not exist.

What does everyone think about this new 'at least one foot must be on the line' rule with the penalty kicks? With VAR being introduced I feel like we are going to have an awfully large amount of retaken penalties. I get the purpose of the rule, but it's a bit unfortunate that it's introduced now at a major tournament like the World Cup rather than at the beginning of a season to give keepers the opportunity to get used to it.

    Feel for Scotland.

    I think it's idiotic.

I was listening to a french podcast yesterday and the general consensus was that the France/Nigeria VAR decision was bullshit and only made to ensure that France wouldn't draw. I haven't seen anything from yesterday's game. We'll see how liberally referees use that rule after this tournament.

A goalkeeper came on the show and said that if you haven't moved at all when the penalty is taken you might as well let the shooter score.

Yeah, I think that last sentence above sums it up. Penalty's are hard enough to save as it is. Sure, its meant to give teams an opportunity to score when a goalscoring opportunity was illegally prevented, but keepers should still have a chance. We should be preventing keepers being 3 feet off their line when the shot is taken, but having to have a toe on the line just makes it too hard.

The idea of the rule is ok I guess but booking the keeper as well if they come off the line is ridiculous. The idea you can get sent off for being an inch off the line before it saving it twice in a row is insane.

The Premier League announced today that their version of VAR won't be enforcing it this season, which I'm pretty pleased about on the balance of things.

Now that Hummels is gone and Boateng also probably on his way out it would definitely make sense for Bayern. Of course with Süle, Lucas and de Ligt we would have 3 equally good CBs competing for 2 spots. But given the many games we have and the probability of an injury it would be good to have that depth.
Pavard is more or less a backup for the CB and RB position right now. His last season with Stuttgart just wasn't that great (granted in an overall dire Stuttgart team), I think he has no business to be a starter as of now.

I just don’t see Bayern spending that much money on another centre back this season. That would be a lot of money for a position you're not hurting in. Doesn't see like a Bayern thing to do.

True, we would probably spend that money on a winger (Sané).
