Straight up The Witcher 3 is trash. It's comically inept in terms of mechanics, the combat is clunky and lame. If all you care about is world-building and story, then sure, but if you actually want a game-y game, I recommend you stay as far away from it as possible. I'm straight up baffled by the reaction it has received.

Bloodborne (+DLC) is my favourite PS4 game, my 2nd is Uncharted 4. Doom is amazing. See my post above.

I know it's a bit extreme, but at what point should you just make it an interactive novel instead of a game? I mean come on.

that said, I will say this: The quest line with the king who beats his wife was some of the most engrossing story-telling I've experienced across any medium.

I wouldn't say the combat in Witcher III is excellent, but I thought it was solid and never really had issues with it. (Certainly better than most large, open world WRPGs). Everything aside from the combat system which is solid, is vastly superior to nearly every AAA title that came out last year and is a game deserving of all it's praise in every regard.

Certainly many, many games worthy of the monicker of interactive novel over Witcher III by a country mile.

Of course not, I wish it was an interactive novel because i enjoy the story but really really can't stand actually having to play the game :-/

Wasn't all that impressed by TW3's story, but oddly enough, the combat is satisfying to me. Even though it's simple and a far cry from Dark Souls, I like the epic music, the camera angle of the lock-on feature, the way you can switch between witcher powers and swordplay and the how the swordplay feels heavy and brutal and how you change strategies depending on what monster you're fighting. Looks the part too - using the sword to block and parry and the way you can stylishly cleave enemies in half or in chunks always keeps me coming back for more.

That's what I'm talking about, I'm not going to go out and say witcher III is some god-send when it comes to combat, but it's competently done and doesn't get in the way.

Never once felt it was a barrier to enjoying the experience.

Obviously Bloodborne is the number one. I'm sure you might need a break after playing all three Dark Souls in a row but if not make that your highest priority. If you've never played The Last of Us I say get that next. Uncharted 4 is excellent and can be played without the first three if you want but there's also the Nathan Drake collection if you want to play the first three and they're great games. The Witcher 3 is fantastic if you like sprawling open world games with tons of quests. There's Ratchet and Clank and Tearaway if you're a fan of platformers, The Evil Within if you fancy a great horror game and Until Dawn is great too. But yeah, Bloodborne.
SOOOOO MUCH HYPE. I think that and Final Fantasy XV are about equal for me in terms of hype and they're at the point of almost Zelda levels of hype for me. Day one buy.

Yeah, that Zelda game is making me fucking sick with how it looks so good and makes me wish I had a Wii U. I don't know what to do because I really, really want to play it but it's the only current nintendo game I feel that way about right now. It seems to address all the things I thought were holding the series back and embraces the things I like about open world fantasy games, especially SOTC, that would move the series forward.

Cant tell if srs. Plus I don't think one game is ever enough to justify buying a console, personally. It would have to be quite a game for that to happen. Like if No Man's Sky had the graphical detail of Horizon and several of the exoplanets had as much stuff packed into it as a Bethesda game or TW3 (or, fuck it, earth), then I might change my stance on that, but otherwise.....

More to the point, online competitive shooters aren't really my thing anyway TBH, since I'm not very good at them, haha.

i am terrible at competitive shooters. splatoon isn't even really a shooter. the objective is to cover the ground in ink. amazing game.

Bayonetta 2, Donkey Kong Country Freeze, Mario 3D World, Captain Toad, Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros, Yoshis Wooly World, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Zelda remasters. There's a lot to love on Wii U. I'm glad I have mine.

Add #FE to that list too :)

And yeah, if you're doubting Splatoon you are doing yourself a huge disservice.

I'll probably buy a used Wii U sometime after the NX launches if it doesn't support Wii U games.

if you do, pick up a wii u pro controller. it's pretty great and my #1 pc controller now.

It really should come bundled. That tablet thingy is not the best way to play games, especially stuff like Bayo 2.

the tablet is suprisingly comfortable. i was expecting worse but yeah the pro controller is so so so so much better it's not funny. it has like the most ridiculous battery life ever, i haven't charged it since i got it because there's no need.

I'm not sure it's *great* but it's a very unique experience that you don't really have on the other platforms (until P5 drops obvs)

I just want Nintendo consoles to play Zelda and Mario platformers. The way the new Zelda looks it may be worth buying a console for.

Might be tempted to get their next console since it will also have that new Zelda, but it depends on what's going on in the Mario and Metroid department. And if all the old classics including gamecube and wii games are playable maybe it would seal the deal for me.
