Have your friend go through this list: List of terrorist incidents, January–June 2016 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (though, if you're like me, you dont consider anti-israeli attacks to be acts of terror)

Most people don't realize that terrorism kills more Muslims and Africans than Westerners.

Can someone who is more worldly than I give a more detailed summary of the reasons for Labour's attempts to oust Corbyn and the context of Labour's ongoing reformation?

kind of like how it's not mentioned anywhere on this site.

***edit: wasn't mentioned until the end of the day and talked about in less than 10 posts.

Individual reasons vary across the board and it's not exclusive to the right of the party, but they've driven it from a point where there were already plans to undermine and challenge him as soon as it looked like he'd win the leadership, and as a whole it's hard to view it as much other than an incredibly poorly-timed play for power. The main reason cited is Corbyn's performance during the referendum, when in reality he is relatively low on the list of things and people to blame, if he should even register at all - 70% of Labour supporters were polled as pro-remain, and it's an issue where there's historically never really been that much of a consensus in either of the main parties. For context within the party, Hilary Benn, who was partly in charge of Labour's campaign, was apparently one of the spearheads of the coup which has lost him his job on the shadow cabinet and kicked off a massive overhaul that has taken place over the last couple of days. Gisela Stuart, who was by far the most prominent Labour figure on the Leave side (out of something like 7-8 MPs) and has shared a platforms and stances with the likes of Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage, contrary to her own constituents according to the results, has faced relatively little scrutiny for it as of yet.

Well, the Blairites have been waiting for some time to take out Corbyn, because he represents a left that isn't particularly amenable to their centrist strategies. For the past nine months, they've been issuing criticisms of his leadership and electability, with the media being an active participant on their side. They thought they'd have two years to undermine and eliminate him before the next election. When Britain voted to get out of the EU and the potential of a general election being called earlier, they decided to use it as a pretext to rid themselves of his leadership. They've said that he didn't work hard enough during the lead-up to the Brexit to get people on the Remain side, because he said there were some things the EU had to change as well. Their argument is that Labour needs a leader that will unite the wings of the party and so on, i.e., a centrist who cedes ground to the right on issues like immigration. As one can guess, those who want to restore that "balance" consists of technocrats and MP's. The actual members of the Labour Party and the trade unions are standing behind Corbyn. What we have, then, is a struggle between a working-class that wants the restoration of social democracy and the Blairites who want a centrist neoliberal order that makes accommodations for social progress, but agrees fundamentally on applying market principles as mechanisms for change. I can link you to articles if you want. This is the sense I get from what I've read. UK folks feel free to step in and correct me.

Tbh i think it's almost a given to a lot of us because that's a common response to Islamophobia that I think all of us have justifiably given when someone suggests this extremist ideology is uniquely or truly Islamic

    Be my alibi?

It's not surprising people are not really talking about this as there wasn't a community of people specifically targeted. It is in no way less of tragedy, but the talking points around it are not the same as Pulse, Charleston, Colorado Springs, and Aurora for examples. Boston is similar but that event had an enormous media coverage and following while law enforcement worked on apprehending the suspects.

Plus it's a part of the world that many individuals are unfamiliar with or don't really have ties too, even on a superficial front meaning that even though they have no knowledge of the area, personal enjoyment of celebrities from that area would give them a connection to the tragedy, which I'm guessing there are very few celebrities known to western civilization from Turkey.

haha they did a good job of skirting past the fact that after the Boston Marathon attack, reddit doxxed a (conveniently brown) person they suspected was the attacker... only to find out that not only was he innocent, he had in fact (for unrelated reasons) recently killed himself.

So Clinton backers aren't less racist than the average American, while Trump backers are far more racist. Certainly doesn't surprise me. Curious where Sanders supporters would rank.

about 1 standard deviation less racist than clinton, according to Emily Flitter of Reuters
