Mark's reasoning for not wanting to play new songs live before they were released was because the crowd reaction is never good because no one knows them and he doesn't want a crappy sounding video of the song being out there before the actual studio version is released.

It's funny because in the fall of 1998 blink played Mutt, Wendy Clear, Alien's Exist and Dumpweed regularly. And by January of 1999 they basically played all of Enema minus Party Song, Adam's Song and Gary. But again different times back then without Youtube and smart phones.

Im fine with all of this. Especially since they’re taking their time to make sure it’s the best the album can be. I think a lot of us are assuming too much and got spoiled by how fast they released California. I’d rather have them release the album when they’re 100% proud of it than just rushing it out ASAP. This is what many dissenters of California wanted this go around, experimental and for them to take their time. If we want that we have to be patient.

I for one can appreciate them not wanting to release it until it’s truly ready and taking their time fine tuning and perfecting the album, and I am confident it pays off in the long run

It will be interesting to see how many tracks are on the album and which producers/how many songs they worked on are used. Early on it was 10 tracks with Feldmann producing half of them. It sounds like the number of songs has changed to 12 to 15 now. I also can't remember the last time Feldmann posted something about working with blink.

So Travis is Guy, Mark is Lenny and Tom is Jimmy. Got it, makes sense too.

Haha I didn't hear the interview but following along with the persistent outrage in here is priceless. The shitty questions and lack of preparation are particularly surprising especially given that blink have been going on KROQ and going on Kevin & Bean for like 20 years. Shouldn't they know a thing or two by now?

There's also that popular American rock and roll singing group popular with the kids on chorus.fm called Fall Out Boy. Pretty sure they've done this at least once....

Am I the only one that thinks "Blame It On My Youth" and "Bored To Death" aren't that sonically and stylistically different from one another and that the outrage towards BIOMY that I don't remember being there for BTD is puzzling? Also, this is a legitimate question and not a troll.

I feel like it's just the fact that the guitars were prevalent in BTD. BIOMY doesn't have those distorted guitars so that means the song is blasphemy! Haha. It's honestly what made the song not pull me in at first too but I love it now because it's so goddamn catchy.

Exactly. Can't a good song just be a good song and message boards, Twitter hot takes and YouTube streams don't have to get flooded with a bunch of boring, uninteresting cover videos in defiance to it like, "If (insert song) was on Enema Of The State"?

    Prestigious Prestigious

In response to the “if _____ was on ____” videos, it makes sense that fans of band that has a big focus on not growing up would also not grow up

These types of videos legitimately make me angry. If these "fans" were actually fans of the bands they claim to love so much, then they would want to grow and evolve in tandem with the artist and accept that change is inevitable, a part of life, and you can't just expect most bands to do the same stuff over and over again, especially a band the size of blink. If these guys want this stuff to stay the same so badly, go see New Found Glory and get your catharsis there (not meaning to throw shade, I personally love NFG and just saw them last week and had a fantastic time, however, with the exception of Coming Home and some of Makes Me Sick, who are we fooling here? They know who they are, and they are top of the heap in the art of just giving the eternally-whining hardcore pop punk fan base what they want).

Just hopped in my car to go home and caught the end of BIOMY on my local rock station finally. It sounded really good on radio.

DJ came on after and said it was “new music discovery” from blink, but nothing about the show in a few weeks.

Listening to the first minute of each of those “what if” videos, make me love and appreciate the OG so much more.

I obviously love blink but watching those awful cover videos always make me think I actually hate pop punk. I'm SO glad I discovered more music and didn't get entrenched in that shit for my entire life haha.

Haha. Don't get me wrong I love poppy guitar music and there's a lot of pop punk bangers but I'm just not down with the overly generic parts of some of it. Blame it on my lack of youth as a man in his 30s haha.
