This is where an avalanche of scoffs descends on me...

I don’t like Nintendo at all. I’ve never enjoyed any of the gazillion Mario games. I have zero interest in new Pokemon games. I don’t enjoy Zelda. I don’t enjoy gaming on small screens (that includes the PSP) and I’ve never really engaged with any Nintendo characters/games.

Outside of the Gameboy Colour, I’ve never owned a Nintendo console/device. The games on there, for the most part, cater to a drastically different market than what I’m interested in. I’ll get my coat now.

There’s quite a few games I’m excited about this year. Even some that aren’t on Switch, like Gears, Outerworlds (if that’s the name), Roller Champions etc.

You’re not wrong but it doesn’t change what I don’t like paha.

Right now my excitement for Pokémon and Fire Emblem beats my excitement for anything else. Most of what I'm excited about this year is on Switch. There's is other games too, they're just not out this year. Doom, Wolfenstein, outerworlds, death Stranding, I think that might be it. And not one of those comes close to my excitement for my most anticipated Switch games

Code Vein is supposed to be out this year and I think I could potentially LOVE that game but it could also be a big letdown lol

I couldn't get into the first but this one definitely looks better. I'll give it a go when I've got nothing else, I'm in no rush

I'd love Bloodborne 2, but it's not coming anytime soon. If ever

I heard the new From game with the GoT bloke is ‘horrifying’ so I wouldn’t be surprised to see elements of it there?

Their games always share some similar elements, so it wouldn't surprise me. I know you didn't get into Sekiro, but look up the boss the Demon of Hatred, it's so Bloodborne lol

Well damn. You’re not wrong. Urgh. Such a shame I can’t get into Sekiro. I’ve tried so much. Genuinely. I just end up quitting and feeling more sad each time haha.

I remember you said this just now and I wanted to mention that I don't think we should assume that all Xbox Game Studios games will be exclusive to the Xbox (hardware and cloud). Given what has been going on with Microsoft/Xbox exclusives on the Switch (both rumours and actual releases) as well as various PC storefronts, I think we'll continue to see some of their games making it to other platforms (both directly and maybe via their cloud service, if those Switch rumours have some truth to them). I think Microsoft is trying to move the industry beyond traditional exclusivity thinking, to an extent.

Idk Microsoft should keep their exclusives exclusive if they want people like me to buy an Xbox lol

I mean it's all about numbers. Halo for example maybe does more good for them as a hardware-seller, whereas Minecraft would be held back too much on one box (the same for say Cuphead, which clearly belongs on Switch too and probably didn't actually sell all that many Xbox One units). Also, if their streaming service (or Game Pass on other hardware) works out, I imagine they really don't care if you use it on their box, as they will barely make any money on hardware to begin with.

Xbox is still the brand though. Just weird to me that it's seems more and more like they don't actually care if you buy the thing their brand was based around. Like they're still going to do the big reveal of the Xbox Two. "Here's the most powerful console ever! We don't care if you buy one!"

It's a little weird, but only because it's different from what the industry always was. It makes sense given the obvious transition phase we are in though, I think. To an extent, they won't care if you buy the hardware or not (provided you play their games another way), but they'll still make hardware because plenty of people will buy it regardless. This is also happening in other industries. Apple Music is on the Google Play store too, for example.

There's that too, there's a lot of interests that are related but not actually the same within Microsoft

Even as just a name, Xbox is very smart. Planted on every Switch is a code for a trial of Games Pass. I think they are really pushing the boundaries of what gaming was: exclusivity, console wars, etc. Instead, let’s share what our strengths are and stand united.
