  1. What's it like not to have your local library with you all the time? How do Spotify users do it?

I just save the mp3s of albums that aren't on Spotify/aren't out yet on my phone and use Spotify for the rest

Does Apple Music let you stream your local library to your devices?

That's definitely a major plus over Spotify, I didn't know that. I have the Plex instead, which works well at least.

Personally I only stick with Spotify now because I'm used to it, and the cheap Hulu is nice. Very disappointed they never brought back lyrics too.

And I have the whole "I've never bought an Apple product in my life" mantra to uphold lol

  7. Plex on the Apple TV is the best TV/Movie watching experience I've ever had.

I do miss my 120GB ipod though but streaming is just far too convenient these days

Eh at one point I had a 32 GB SD card filled with my essential music and it's followed me through my phones. All it has left saved on it is stuff that Spotify doesn't have.

    I've used it, you're right, it's excellent.

I have my PC hooked to my TV so I just run it direct. They recently updated the TV mode on PC and it's clean and smooth.

I currently have 386gb on my Plex drive. Only 58 is music though. I've deleted so much over the years, for better or worse.

I mean I can readily listen to basically any song I want to listen to really easily. I don't need shiny new thing when what I have gets the job done just fine

  17. As we type on our ... iPhone 4s? I don’t even remember what was out then.

  18. Dunno. I think there’s a big gulf between “basically” and literally “any”. My personal music collection is vast and pretty curated. Having it with me on any device wherever I am is freeing in a way I’d only ever dreamed of. Walking around and feeling a craving to hear some b-side or album advance due out in a few weeks ... and I can? It’s incredible. And hearing people sad they can’t and can’t scribble it is kinda sad and I wouldn’t wanna go back to that life.

When I used to play cds on a discman plugged into a tape adapter inserted into a tape deck, I really don't find the slightest bit of misery in having to go a WHOLE different place on my phone to play a song that isn't on my streaming app lol

  20. I didn’t think having my local library available to me at all times was a big deal until I had it available at all times

    Couldn’t go back now tbh

  21. Spoken like someone that’s never added an album on your computer and had it just show up on your phone and available. Might as well still be using a tape deck. Two apps? Syncing? Madness. Madness I tell you.

  22. What’s it like plugging a phone into a computer in 2019 is it like having a 8-track :demon:

2009 was a mostly great year. Be cool going back and living 21 again.

No, it takes like a minute of time tops starting from me getting up to get the cord to plugging it into my laptop to saving the album/whatever to my phone. I spend enough minutes just dicking around on the internet as is, so for me it's not wasted time at all

  25. No part of me wants to do that. If any of you assholes get trapped in a time loop and we Groundhog Day any year before like 2013 I’m taking you all out in rage.
