I made it home.

6 hour drive turned into 8 hour drive because traffic and stops.

All I listened to was podcasts which was nice.

 

Worst traffic I've ever sat in was surprisingly not in DC (although they hold spots 2-10 on that list lol).
The worst was people coming back down to FL after evacuating because of a hurricane.

Florida is the 4th most populated state in the country.
South Carolina only has two-lane highways.
Do the math lol.

I took a lot of backroads and it still turned a 5 hour drive from Charlotte into like a 10 hour drive. Can't imagine being one of those people who just sticks to the highway no matter what.

They also closed every highway exit in Georgia to avoid traffic overflowing those country towns, so a lot of people legit ran out of gas and got stuck on the side of the highway. I felt like a genius for driving through rural SC and getting gas before returning to the interstate.

South Carolina is a podunk state though. I drove through several towns that look like they haven't grown up ONE bit since like 1930. Nothing but railroad tracks, houses with deteriorating walls & roofs, and country stores with a whole lot of NOTHING in between.

Oddly if you take route 321 you pass through cities named Denmark, Sweden, and Norway lol.

 

started serving a couple weeks ago and this week was the first one where i kept track and started a spread sheet of what i was making. from monday - sunday this past week i made 717 dollars working 38 hours averaging a bit over 20 an hour. pretty good shit considering how slow this time of year is for us

 

Other "worst traffic I ever sat in":

2) completely crossing DC on Friday afternoons from west to east. You will sit still, completely stranded, on on-ramp entrances to 495 (The Beltway) for 30+ minutes. LIke literally on the ramp so you can't even pull to the shoulder much less exit the highway. And this is even if you leave work at 12:30 PM. I did this every week for awhile because I worked an internship in Virginia but lived in Maryland (luckily had a place to stay in VA during the workweek). It sometimes took 4 hours to go 60 miles.

3) trying to exit Manhattan via the Lincoln Tunnel. I went to a Broadway show with my aunt & uncle and when we left there was literally a FULL gridlock, wrapped around an entire block, with buses blocking the intersection in front of us. Roads are fucking pointless in that city. The cops had to intervene and tell cars they can't go where they need to go because that whole block of traffic would've stayed stuck otherwise.

4) Philadelphia sports game traffic. Holy hell. I once sat in traffic all the way through New Jersey AND Wilmington Delaware after an Eagles game. Didn't clear up until i crossed the bridge into Maryland.

5) Crossing Atlanta completely from south to north via I-75 from 4 PM to 7 PM, on my way to a tour date in Nashville. But I fully expected this traffic so it wasn't so bad. Me and my buddy were just enjoying the city skyline and the music we had on. It didn't get annoying until we got to the north side of town and realized that Atlanta's sprawl goes another 40 miles in that direction. We thought the traffic would clear up MUCH sooner than it did.

 

philadelphia traffic in general is the worst shit ive ever experience besides chicago traffic. i commute about 15 miles out of the city every day for work and no matter what time it is especially during the day the highway is backed up in multiple places. the design of i76 between the city and king of prussia is fucking abysmal. two lanes the entire way
