I could be wrong, but I do get the vibe that for Rap fans (or fans of more "mainstream" music styles) going to concerts is less important than it is for for rock fans, because the scene in general is just more passionate and die-hard, because they kind of have to be.

I could be wrong, rap could have more die-hard, concertgoing fans, but those types of fans comprise the majority of the rock scene it seems.

Always a bummer to find out a relative is a little bigot. Not super surprised, polar opposite of the rest of his family.
