See, I hear Ambrose podcasts, but then you hear guys like Joe and Miz whose promos are probably scripted/done under the WWE/Vince system, and they're fucking dynamite. Thats a disconnect I see in some of the "definitive" ways Ambrose spoke. The idea that a wrestler is shit if they have a creative team. I don't agree

 

This isn’t my impression of what he meant. I think his take was if you’re a guy who NEEDS a script week in and week out you’re not successful at half you’re job. Joe and Miz aren’t like that. They can talk. They’re great on the mic.

The other aspect of it is if they write him a script that is well written and fitting a captivating character, it’d be fine. But they were so determined to have Dean Ambrose be a wacky, goofy oddball character that like...talent wasn’t gonna fix that.

Counterpoint: The Miz promo that people would undeniably call his best was unscripted on Talking Smack. And it came from the real life frustration of creative having nothing for him that night.

And to Dean's point, what they created from that was great, but it was in no way the plan and they fell ass backwards into it. You needed 3 guys, all with solid careers, but at sort of their low points for that all to work (D-Bry back, but unable to wrestle...Miz with the IC title, but directionless after Sami/KO/etc left the mix...and Dolph off a dumpster fire Corbin feud and weak Dean feud). Likewise with Kofi, another story where they needed to have failed for years for it to pop.

WWE's system fails because you HAVE to be a talker to work long-term. They have no answer for a person who doesnt cut 5 minute promos every week.

 

I cant stop laughing at the idea that Primo and Epico have appeared on TV more recently than Bray. Only Sin Cara (who's been hurt like 5 times in the last year) has been out longer.

 

If Baron was smart wouldnt he rather face Rollins? He should help him here
