I think the only IRc I was ever in was some sort of fantasy Text role playing game and I has no clue what I was doing, and I got banned for trying to incorporate sonic the hedgehog into it....I was like 12-13

 

Yeah, the lyrics weren't intelligent in the past (sometimes they had hints of being clever and cool)but I always found them to be unique and memorable. The new album has some good lyrics in the verses, my favorite being the second verse I believe of Home Is Such A Lonely Place, but overall it's their weakest collection of lyrics.

 

Hahaha. In the very early days I remember having a program that would let you boot users from channels. I thought I was such a hacker.

 

Granted, I don't think they really thought about the lyrics as much this time around, which isn't a huge deal, doesn't make me hate any of these songs. So I'm not saying they CAN'T write good lyrics anymore, it's just that I know these guys can do better. Loved My Shame Is True and Kuts as well as WYHSB, so I just hope they focus a bit more on it next time.

 

Would definitely disagree with that — strenuously.

 

Listened to Cheshire Cat for the first time in a long time and it's a really fun listen but holy shit those last three songs are such a bad ending

 

Their worst ending until Brohemian. Haha.

 

You've probably had to have answered this a thousand times by now, but what would you consider their weakest collection of songs lyric wise (also, as I'm writing this, I have to say DED was pretty damn bad, except for title track.. So if EP's count, then yeah)

 

Cheshire Cat is really rough. So is Dude Ranch if you go back and read through them. I think, as a whole, Enema contains the most I have to pretend aren't actually lyrics so I don't just get annoyed. Even listening to "WMAA" is hard if I focus on the lyrics.

 

I don't really consider Brohemian Rhapsody an ending so much as like a bonus track.

 

I haven't listened to it after the first time; I just restart the album.

 

"Does My Breath Smell" ... oof. What a trainwreck.

 

It's like 30 seconds long, lol. But yeah, it's not as funny after the first listen. That lead guitar is actually pretty legit, though.

In general Matt's guitar playing is spot-on. Doesn't sound out of place to me on a blink record, which is odd, because I don't recall ever hearing Alkaline Trio and finding them remotely similar to blink in terms of guitar.

Fair enough. It made me chuckle the first time I listened to it. I don't really go out of my way to hear it now, and probably won't, but it doesn't have me scrambling to skip it, either.

Of course, I wouldn't need to, if Apple would fix their goddamn "skip when shuffling" feature already. It's been a fucking year since they broke it.

 

The fact that they wasted an awesome riff on it makes it even more offensive hahhaha

I haven't listened to either joke song yet but I don't plan on ruining California as the closer. Sorry Brohemian.

 

In iTunes there's a checkbox for "skip when shuffling" so if you put your library on shuffle, those songs don't come up. I use it for soundtracks or live shows, for example; stuff I would listen to in a particular mood, but don't necessarily want to pop up while I'm driving or just chilling around the house.

A few updates before the one with Apple Music, it stopped working. And it hasn't worked since. Shuffling will play all music, no matter what. It drives me insane. And the only help they or other users give is to make a playlist with all like 2,000 tracks I actually like and shuffle that instead. But even that wouldn't help, because it's broken app-wide. Like if I shuffle all tracks by Brand New, it'll play all the live collections I have.

It's awful.

 

Oh weird. I never use shuffle, so I never heard of that bug. That does suck.

 

Do you usually just listen to albums in full? I usually do that unless I'm doing a short drive or running or something. Then I'll shuffle my music.

 

Yeah, I shuffle all the time. I'm very fickle, haha. I should just get better about making on-the-go playlists, but I'm also very lazy.

 

Almost exclusively. I queue up maybe three albums at a time, hit play, and just listen to them that way.
