  2. We've had a few ideas thrown out here and there that I think would be cool to do sometime.

    An all female songs one would be really cool. Stage and screen would be cool. Drive Thru Records bands is one I've been wanting to do for awhile. There's so many that would be fun to do.

    Heyyyyyy haha. I'll try to submit to the next comp!

    Edit: if you have a cover, you need vocals for, I'd love to collab!

    I'm still a big supporter of the radio rock mixtape (where we cover stuff like Creed, Nickelback, etc). I'm hoping for that or the DTR comp.

    Dude, just fucking flawless. Haha. You really knocked this one out of the park. I'd write more about this but it'd just be reiterations of those sentences.

    @elemenohpe
    Did you record your guitar a different way than normal in this? Like, did you direct in instead of mic'ing your amp? Doesn't sound bad by any means, just sounds different, I actually like the mix a lot more! The first contribution on this might be my favorite cover of yours period! Fantastic guitar work as always, and the latter cover has my favorite vocal effort you've shown us so far.

    Myself - I was totally going for an Arrange vibe with this one, or an Enola-era I Can Make A Mess. Full disclosure, I'm not sure how happy I am with how it came out haha. Can't even really put my finger on what, but something about it just feels off to me. Just a product of being your own worst critic! Glad everyone has enjoyed it so far. Might try something along these lines again in the future, but I can definitely say I had a lot more fun recording in the style of my last couple of covers.

    @bradsonemanband
    Can't believe it took for you to actually do a Saves The Day cover for me to draw the comparison, but your voice is a strangely accurate representation of Conley's! So needless to say, you suited this song very well. Sounds super natural. Hope your move is going well btw, moving sucks and I'm surprised you actually even found the time to do this haha.

    @nothingsforeverdude
    Beautiful as always! Very much enjoy hearing your voice and unique style you bring to these compilations. Just a guitar and a voice, but it always feels like more. Great job!

    @DashboardProfessional
    Your covers are always really well rounded, and this one is no exception. Especially enjoyed the percussion in this one! Really helped tie things together, the whole thing sounds very tight.

    @InfiniteArms
    You actually performed two of my favorites from In Reverie on this comp so bonus points to you! Both of your covers bring some really great energy to this comp. I do hear the little timing issues you talk about on Where Are You, but it's such a fun song that it doesn't even matter. Almost adds to the character in a way. You do both songs justice in that they're just fun, punky little numbers that are easy to sing along to. Nice work, man!

    @snaps
    This is my girlfriend's favorite off of that album, we had a ton of fun listening to it together. Always love hearing really interpretive covers on these things, so you filled that quota for me! Really liked the guitar tones, makes for a gritty sounding but pretty composition! The emotion in your voice is a great touch too.

    Jonah Bayer - Nice to see a fresh name! Welcome! Very cool cover, the electronic drums trodding along with the slow strum of your guitar kept my head bopping the whole time. Hope to hear more from you in the future! Is the quote at the end from the Mike Herrera Hour? That episode had me in tears!

    @xkhiemster
    A true STD classic! Good note to end the comp on. I like the combo of the straightforward guitar with the subdued vocals you've got going on here.

    Also wanted to add thanks to everyone that has commented on mine so far! The recurring Postal Service theme is much appreciated and I honestly didn't even think of that until it was brought up haha. You're all awesome!

    And @elemenohpe you'll be surprised to hear that there's not a single synth on my cover! All guitar tones and effects experimentation. The synthy sounding thing in the second verse is actually me adjusting the volume on a guitar track to get little quick, but soft sounding eighth note hits!

    Listened to the comp, everyone did really good.

    @trevorshmevor your cover might be my favorite cover I've heard on any of the comps. I seriously loved that.

  9. Thanks for the kind words, Trevor! I've never gotten told that my voice sounds like Chris Conley until this compilation, but that's a sweet compliment so thank you!

  10. Damn dude, thanks! Haha that really means a lot, there has been a lot of really great stuff coming through this series. Hope you've been feeling a little better these days and that you might join us for Yellowcard!

    Started doctors appointments, stomach doctor today, psychiatrist hopefully in the next couple months (it's hard to get into one, at least in Charlotte). I don't know if I'll do the Yellowcard one, just because I've never been a huge fan, but if I do I'll probably do a blind cover like I did with Motion City Soundtrack. Your cover of Your Funeral is seriously awesome though, I actually enjoy it more than I enjoy the original.

    I started playing with Amplitube so, I was plugged into my phone and fed that DI to my interface. I actually used Amplitube for Smooth on the Summer compilation as well. I like the versatility of tones I can get plus all the effects. Physically, all I have is my amp, an auto-wah (because I broke the expression pedal part) and a noise-suppressor. Nothing else. I think Amplitube sounds kind of stale though... my guitar doesn't really punch like it does through an amp. Yesterday I ran my guitar to wah, Amplitube, noise suppressor, amp (on the clean channel everything turned to 5) and then I used two mics both running to my interface. Turning it up and mic'ing really makes a difference in the tone and I think my YC cover will have the best tone I've captured yet.

    Thanks for the compliments as well. Last Lie I Told is my fav STD song so it was awesome to do and I really tried to make Jesse my own, including the vocal approach.

    That is rad! Tom Morello was one of my biggest inspirations when I REALLY got into guitar. I pretty much mimicked his pedal board (Tubescreamer, Boss Flange, Crybaby Wah, Digitech Whammy, EQ pedal) and bought a Les Paul mostly because my other guitars were single coils and couldn't do the "killswitch" effect he does for those turntable sounds. Your effects fooled me good! Great job again.

    If there are any Thrice or Yellowcard comps coming up, I'm in! Haha sorry, first time in this thread and there are too many pages to go through- I see some mentions of YC above?

    I'd probably do Artist in the Ambulance for Thrice; How I Go, Empty Apartment, Shadows & Regrets, or City of Devils for YC

  14. Welcome! Thrice was actually done in the past, so don't hold your breath for another one of those for a while! Not to mention the turnout wasn't great haha. Yellowcard is going to be the next one, stay subbed to the thread for updates! Brad will probably officially announce it in a couple of days and then we can all start calling out songs.

    Thrice already happened. Could happen again sometime. Yellowcard is next month, we usually pick songs on Wednesday (or Thursday?) after a comp drops so, maybe tomorrow you'll be able to claim what song you'd like to do.

    Welcome to the comps. Look forward to hearing some new names on this YC comp!

    @trevorshmevor beat me to it by a couple seconds! hah!

    Awesome!! Thanks guys- I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for it! :-). I meant to jump in on a Brand New one ages ago in Absolute and totally lost track.

    EDIT

    Just started checking out the latest Saves The Day comp. Only into the first track, but wow, awesome job @Things So Impossible, I really dig your voice!

    @InfiniteArms thank you very much! That effect was, in fact, intentional. I thought it'd sound neat to have a lo-fi intro, and then have the real thing kick in; hopefully that worked. Props to you for choosing two difficult songs. My song uses very basic, major chords, whereas both MITM and Where Are You? use tons of pretty unconventional ones, that are dissonant at times, but really cool.

    @bradsonemanband thanks a lot, dude! I love your cover, I think BECAUSE of how you recorded it. You say you were rushed, but I think that worked in your favor. I like how stripped down of a version it is (needless to say, I always love acoustic versions of songs), and you recording it in a park makes it even cooler haha. Kudos

    @snaps thanks a lot, dude! I highly recommend revisiting the latest album, it may even be my favorite. Very poppy, but also really rocks hard. Nice job on your cover. The production of the full band sounds great, and you did a song I don't liste to bery often. I like all STD's material, but the first two albums I listen to very seldom, sonit was nice to revisit an old tune like that. You killed the song, though.

    Oh wow, these are all great ideas. I hope we see a couple of them this year. As far as bands go, I'm shocked there has not been a The Gaslight Anthem/Brian Fallon comp yet from this site.

    @elemenohpe thanks a lot! It actually is a cajon, though I have seen someone play on the back of an acoustic guitar before and it can sounds great. You two covers are my favorite full band tracks on the comp! Great job. I also don't listen to those older songs as much as I do the more recent STD material, so it was refreshing to hear 'em.
