I should correct myself, I wasn’t right when I said “no one is ambitious”. I’ve met plenty of highly ambitious people in Jax! And you know what?

They ALL left. Like, legit 99% of them realized this is not the place to accomplish their goals.

i'm not shaming him. he's perfect and i love him. but i fear him because he sleeps on branches that very obviously cannot hold him.

Even Jacksonville’s main industries give you an idea how depressing it is to work and live here. It’s best known for:

-Budweiser / Annheiser-Busch
-The U.S. Navy
-Small sub branches of shitty banks like Wells Fargo and Bank of America (these are our only two skyscrapers downtown)

Literally having a football team here doesn’t even make sense because the Jaguars, a laughing stock of the NFL since 2000, is one of the 5 best-known entities in the city period

I looked it up, here’s what google has to say for the “highest paying industries” to work for here and average salaries:

Highest paying??? That’s PATHETIC lol... no wonder this city is so stagnant, no one here has the capital to start new business ventures. It’s basically a big dumb small town that 1 million people happen to live in JUST because there’s 3 Navy Bases

My schedule sucked ass too. Monday, Wednesday and Friday I’d be there at 10am-2pm and then 4pm-9:30 but like I had no car so I just stayed there the 2 hours in between

 

I don’t hate it as much as @CarpetElf hates it. If you don’t mind being working-class and you want to be near the beach it can be enjoyable. Especially because rent is cheap so you don’t actually have to work two jobs to afford your rent. That’s huge for someone who has limited hourly-based earning potential. This is your chance to still enjoy a little bit of city life and beaches / springs even if you’re poor.

However, there is no room for forward progress in this town. Anyone who has professional or artistic ambition and isn’t just fine with being where they are is gonna feel stifled.
