In one of the scenes Arya confronts the Waif and it turns out to be Jaqen. May even be just before she goes blind.

yes, this is a problem with inconsistency in how their powers have been portrayed, which is part of why all of it feels like total nonsense

If Jaqen is a special case as mentioned above, I'd be hard pressed to not also say that Arya probably is special as well considering she has all the same powers as Bran (book knowledge, never shown in show to be fair).

But I don't think Arya is a character who would needlessly kill innocents to fulfill her revenge. She's not Cersei. That alone makes me lean on the "to use a face they don't have to be dead." Or she brought the face(s) with her. But Jaqen using living faces suggests that's not always necessary. We don't know the magic, which is the show's fault, but that doesn't mean Arya doesn't know it. Jaqen didn't exactly look pissed she reclaimed her identity and killed the Waif.

Skip to 6:15. A good explanation and confirmation that Jon is the "Prince that was Promised".

arya absolutely does not have the same powers as bran in either the book or the show, we never even have confirmation that her dreams are warging into nymeria. even if they are theyre still on totally different levels.

the second half of this post is why everything happening in her plotline is nonsense, character motivations and actions are murky to the point of being opaque even as the show seems to assume that they are obvious and selfevident

And that's what I mean by explained away by fan theories...

Which is fun and everything but its sloppy storytelling no matter if and how they end up cleaning it up.

i'd go with the theory that Faceless Men don't carry around a bag full of faces when they're out and about, nor do they have to kill someone every time they need a new face. Once a face has been added to the Hall of Faces, a Faceless Man can assume any face in there at any time.

I have so many feelings. I had to re-watch it today to try and make sense of how I could be so heartbroken (over Margaery, my sweet love and poor Tommen who just was too sweet for this world) and feel so justified for other things.

Still emotional over the Ned x Lyanna scene. It's everything I wanted.

Not sure which I cried more over, the Sansa x Jon "Winter is Here" scene or Dany x Tyrion "So this is really happening". The Dany and Tyrion scene really had so much to it.

I have SO many questions about Arya's entire gameplay -- how did she get there, how did she kill and cook them...did she cook them herself? and so on.

It was amazing how the episode was produced. It felt almost like an M Night Shamalamadingdong movie.

Rewatching. The piano music throughout that first sequence is so damn good. It set the mood quite well.

Also Pryce was great as the High Septon, he made me hate him so much.

Lyanna Mormont was just so damn good every scene she was in. I hope she's back next season.

As satisfying as it was to watch her kill Walder Frey, I couldn't help but think this. Just goes to show how poorly handled her story was for these two seasons.

I keep reading these very creepy "Sansa and Jon Snow are going to hook up and rule the North together" theories, and honestly my personal theory on what is going to happen with Jon/Sansa probably could not be more opposite of that.

If Jon is indeed Azor Ahai/Lord of Light reborn, then the magical flaming sword Lightbringer has to come eventually... and in the legends Azor Ahai formed Lightbringer a very certain way... at first I thought it could be Melisandre, now I think it'll be Sansa.

That would be such an awful way for Sansa's arc to end and Azor Ahai's to begin imo. It wouldn't be Jon's sacrifice but Sansa's and it would be so shitty for Sansa to go through all of this just to be that plot device.

The only thing worse than that would be if it was Ghost...because the feels :verysad:

Really awesome easter egg that was found. The strange contraptions Sam sees on the ceiling of the library he entered are the astrolabes that are spinning around the burning sun/fireball in the intro. Also, The Stark wolf is now back in the intro on top of winterfell instead of the Bolton sigil.

It is also confirmed a few weeks had to have passed between when we see Varys with the sand snakes in Dorne and then him sailing to Westeros, because there are definitely both Tyrell and Martell ships shown in the ending scene.

So I was thinking about the character of Jon Snow, and I never connected the dots before but I realized today that Jon Snow's origins can definitely be compared to Superman, Luke Skywalker, and Goku's. After this is all over i'll bet you some comparative literature student will write a paper about Jon Snow being in that classic hero archetype.

Honestly I just see Jon and Dany setting aside their differences and lighting up the White Walkers with Dragons/Longclaw

  25. I haven't really thought about this yet (because I fully expect Jaime to die next season) but that actually makes a lot of sense.
