I waited until after Valentine's Day once. I am a terrible person.

 

i had a girl do this to me freshman year of HS. her birthday was in June. then i asked if we could postpone the break up until my birthday so i could get a present. my birthday is in February. she said no.

 

my college gf did it the week before Valentine's but still wanted me to drive out the 3 hours to spend that weekend as was the original plan. Was like "lol nah."

 

I was 16 and a really big asshole.

 

I used philosophy and referenced books when breaking up with someone before. Suffice to say, MLA format does not ameliorate hard feelings.

 

I've never broken up with anyone. Feeling left out.

 

tbh I'd prob rather get dumped after anyway. That way I don't have to be stuck with all the leftover valentine's day shit/whatever I had planned.

 

I'm so glad the last guy I was seeing it just sort of fizzled out naturally. Or maybe he just sensed the vibe that I wasn't into him anymore. On our last day of our class together we said bye and parted ways and never tried to text each other again or ever ran into each other. It was so nice lol.

Tried breaking up with a girl after we'd been drinking. She threatened to drive 40 min home while wasted so I ended up revoking the break up.

 

I'm bad at breaking up with people. When I try they argue back and I can't counter it and go "you're right we can stay together" and then later they break up with me

 

I've had some great break-ups, though.

I'm usually the one breaking things off with the exception of the last couple of girlfriends I've had. The last one was especially hard because it nearly ruined a friendship of almost 20 years, luckily we managed to patch things out and are good friends again.

 

The worst break up I've had never happened. Girls dad abused her, I didn't know what to do so I asked a friend who's mom worked for social services what to do and he told me I was legally required to report it, so I did, and then she ghosted me.

 

I haven't ever broken up with anyone. Though, in high school when I was 17 I thought this girl I wasn't interested in liked me -- I was interested in her but was too worried of what my friends would think so I pretended to not like her in that way -- so I wrote a livejournal post knowing she could read it about how I hope she didn't really like me and then when I "found out" she could read it I was like "oh shit my bad" and we basically didn't speak again.

 

This thread is reminding me that teenagers are asses and I'm glad I didn't date much or show interest in anyone lol rejection sucks!

 

I always side eye people who say high school was the best time of their life

 

High school was real bad. I thought everyone i knew were my friends but I didn't really hang out with more than a couple of them. I didn't go to parties and I definitely didn't date

 

I didn't have a single date in high school. I'm pretty okay with that looking back.

 

I was fine not really interacting with people, I was sad that I didn't go to prom not because I wanted to go, it sounded like a nightmare, but that everyone else was having fun with me

in hindsight I could have probably used a misfit clique like in The Perks of Being A Wallflower
