Kerrang did an oral history of Taking Back Sunday:

We’d met Dave Stein, who was our lawyer for years, at a show and he gave me his card. He was like, ‘If you ever need a lawyer, let me know.’ He was kind of the New York hardcore lawyer. So once we started talking to Victory I reached out to Dave and asked him to look over the contracts. And he’s like, ‘Do not sign this.’ But at the time we weren’t thinking too far ahead – we just wanted to have a record out, so we did it anyway. And I don’t think we’d be where we are had we not been on Victory. They really gave us a large push and that really helped us.

And the cover photo features their best lineup.

Feel like they left a lot out of this. They completely skipped any of the story regarding WYWTB and glossed ober Louder Now, also never talked about Fred and Matt leaving. But I guess that's to be expected. I thought they were going to talk to everyone. Oh well.

Yeah, this was a disappointing Oral History. I feel like it was all stuff we already knew.

The one they did in 2010 for AP was way better than this

I was just thinking that. I also remember an article on here about Eddie leaving right after it happened. Based on this history Eddie left on his own accord, but there's another article that just posted where Eddie said he wants back in? I'm confused. Haha.

it definitely seems like there's way more to the eddie thing that we will ever know which is fine because it's not our business but the fact that every story or interview you read from either side read seems to portray the situation differently is definitely weird.

Agreed. I have to learn to curb my enthusiasm for drama haha. I'll contain myself.

That was a very poorly done oral history.

I totally agree - I listened to a podcast interview with John Nolan awhile ago where he said Eddie was welcome back whenever he felt he was in a good spot with his sobriety (paraphrasing).

Eddie has made multiple statements/interviews about this. He had some trouble with drinking, it impacted everything in his life-from family to band; he is sober now and liking what he is doing with his new band. He would rejoin, if TBS will have him, but it seems like both sides are waiting to see that the other "wants" them back.

This oral history lacks the depth most diehard fans are looking for.

Is the full version of that available anywhere? AP is sitting on a ton of content that they could theoretically digitize for more ad revenue yet they refuse to for some reason.

Didn't Adam have the same drinking/drug issues in like 2006?

The AP oral history was better, but pretty lackluster as well. It included Fred, which was neat, but still focused heavily on TAYF and the reunion (understandable though since they just got back together)

I’d love to read an oral history that does more than scratch the surface of the years Shaun & John were away, with input from Fred & both Matts

Both Fred & Rubano (separately and in different mediums) have both gone into decent detail outlining their time in the band and what ultimately led to the end of their arcs in the band. I think Rubano was more a casualty of Fazzi getting cut, but Fred's relationship with everyone except Rubano had soured and he had stated that the band seemed focused on so many other things other than making music, so he split.

The history of TBS drama is always entertaining AF

Yeah, this was garbage. I don't need ALL the nitty gritty details of things but this is a puff piece.

For anyone who’s interested in Matt Rubano’s side of the split, he was on a podcast a few years ago that was pretty juicy. The Fred/Matt era of the band was legendary. I remember seeing the video for “you’re so last summer” and liking it but I was blown away after hearing the “a decade under the influence” demo on the Warped 03 comp

What if I told you that this isn't Where You Want to Be. That it isn't always best to Tell All Your Friends and that the last day of the weekend isn't so easy to reclaim. From ESPN Films: Taking Back Sunday.

Open to suggestions. I think there's something there though.

Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!

I tried to find that podcast a couple weeks ago but it got taken down possibly at the request of Rubano and/or the band because he REALLY didn’t paint the rest of the band in a good light
