I actually still haven't listened yet. Hoping physical preorders get here a little early but I don't think they've shipped yet

Were there always commentary tracks on the deluxe Spotify version of Neighborhoods?

is that accurate? Def see it with TOYPAJ, but...

Cheshire Cat: not sure i see it

Dude Ranch: not sure i see it (you could make an argument that they were writing to a niche market, it will probably weaken the position)

Enema: what was the hit-miss ratio for pop punk crossover acts post Dookie, pre Enema?

    TOYPAJ: Enema re-write.

Untitled: i wouldn't call it a "bold" or "experimental" move, but I don't see much chart chasing here. Def see the influence of Bad Astronaut and Taking Back Sunday et al, but that's not really pulling from the top. Whereas John Feldmann likes melodies that are cold and play-ful (whoa-oh-ohhhhh)

Neighborhoods: whatever the hell it is, it sure ain't made for radio.

it's worthwhile to differentiate between market friendly and market minded. I'm pro-collabo but it seems like the unease people feel about co-writes is that the songs are being birthed to be potential singles (toddlers in tiaras, vis-a-vis what's playing well on the charts rn) rather than coming out of the musical communication of some personalities and hey, if some of those have hit potential, it's a bonus. Neither is better, but many songwriters will tell you the methodology informs the result. I'm digging California quite a bit but I'm hearing its methodology. you are the fly and the hook is the glow.

Exactly. I didn't listen to it until after she was born, but I was in the hospital cafeteria when I fired it up and I listened to the rest on a night drive home later on. I had to get home to take care of our toddler. Anyway, it was pretty cool to have my first listen weave throughout one of the biggest days of my life.

I got 4 damn shipping e-mails for one cd. And still don't have a no future download code.

Yeah those have been there since it came out. I listened once and thought it was pretty boring.

I've come to the conclusion that, "Home.." is Blink's, "Good Riddance." I can imagine this playing at some 2017 graduation ceremonies.

I am really enjoying this album. Reminds me of classic Blink while also bringing in the newer sound that was inevitably going to happen with Skiba. That being said, Sober makes me cringeeeee. Those na na na na's are reminiscent of some of those newer pop country songs. I know someone on here made that comparison and now I can't get it out of my head :verysad:. Also, I can't believe they wasted the music to Brohemian Rhapsody for that. It could have been one hell of a song

I have a memory of me and like 20 friends drunk on a snowy December night in Cleveland, snowed in with two feet of snow, and everyone singing this song. Fun times. We also did that for a blink song too(I think there's s video of that one ugh) lol

After a few listens here are a few thoughts

    - This is a Mark Hoppus record with Matt Skiba on guest vocals. At no point do I get any Matt Skiba vibes or structure or even guitar work from any of the tracks.

    - The result is16 tracks from a talented but one dimensional bass player. No memorable guitar riffing, too much power chord, and not nearly enough variety. Even the duel vocals seem forced. Why isn't there any Matt only tracks? or Mark?

-There's some good moments, but overall extremely disappointed. It's more cohesive than Neighborhoods, but there is nothing on here that comes close to a track like After Midnight or Wishing Well.

These guys should of called it quits for good after Untitled.

Who else is feeling the "Goodbye Sky Harbor" guitar riff during the first couple minutes of "California" like I am?

    Headphones compliment this album.

    Things have changed.

The second verse of "The Only Thing That Matters" is SUPER Skiba, down to the way the drumming changes. That could come straight off From Here To Infirmary or Good Mourning.

The second verse of "No Future" is a total Skiba melody, too.
