Again with the musician perspective, but I actually think likes are the only way to gauge how many people give a shit about what you’re posting on Instagram haha. Just cause people follow you doesn’t mean they will ever come to one show or check out one song haha

Would be nice if there was a way to cut down on fake accounts / copy pasted comments / general weird ass shit though cause a lot of IG publicity is computer generated

 

why would anyone post on social media were it not for the brief dopamine rush of recognition haha

 

It's only hiding your total likes from the public, you'll still be able to see how many likes you get on your own photos/videos

Imo I think it's kind of a good thing, Instagram has become such a dumb popularity contest of who can get the most likes on stuff which led into the whole fake likes business

 

I remember when I followed @Ken food account and I had like 10 food accounts follow me. It was weird.

 

imagine your likes were hidden from the public on chorus and you couldn't brag about your formidable ratio

Like I know a ton of people personally who don't even bother posting anymore because they're so discouraged on things not getting enough likes, which IG should be fixing their algorithm if anything but we know they're not going to do that, so this is their compromise to try and get people to start posting again

But I can also see it totally backfiring, especially with Gen-Z

 

I use Facebook as a calendar for shows/events so I don’t forget

 

It still notifies you when people like your shit I just think that the likes aren’t made public. P sure.
