I am greatly aware of the two different mediums now being discussed. Being good at novels doesn’t mean you’re good at writing films. Example: David Benioff

I'm not worried at all about their Star Wars. I think they'll be, at worst, pretty good.

“his original works” doesn’t clarify you meant just films. and you listed pretty great films that he wrote. including one that he also wrote the novel for. you don’t have to concern troll this hard. you can choose not to do this. it’ll be okay.

The conversation in this thread was about him writing a Star Wars film, not a book.

Walk outside, take a fresh breath of air and realize that “trolling” isn’t someone disagreeing with subjective opinions of films. This is the second time you’ve done this. It’s fine that you think his films are great. I don’t. Reviewers don’t according to the reception from his most films. It’s also humorous that you’re telling me I can choose not to do this when you’re the one that responded to me first. You initiated this.

you said they haven’t written good original work. that is factually incorrect. maybe make better arguments if you’re gonna get all pouty when people point out how wrong you are.

I said David didn’t write any good films. Maybe you’ll make better arguments if you actually knew what I said.

Also, It can’t be factually that his films are good when that’s a subjective opinion. Critics also haven’t liked most of his films if we are going to use anything.

Did she write the Fantastic Beast films? If so, I agree with this.

I have to squint my eyes or wear dark sunglasses while I walk on a beach during daylight. I also have to plan my route very carefully while sprinting to the ocean from my hotel in order to find shady areas under umbrellas and not burn my feet.

Like someone said, they get to write it from the start instead of having to figure how to end something with someone else’s setup. It’ll be fine

Cursed post lol. Whatever D&D's faults are as screenwriters, they're way better at it than she is.

They're nowhere near capital "G" Great Writers, but they're similar to a J.J. Abrams type. I don't think they're an exciting pick, but after Lord & Miller none of Disney's choices have been exciting (Rian doesn't count, he was hired before L&M)

i would certainly put more faith in them than any of the names mentioned, but yeah, they’re not far from that tier of creators. i don’t really think that anyone who has come into star wars ever has been more unique than that tier of a creator, with the exception of rian. and while i love TLJ and his other work, i can totally get why they don’t want that kind of a fiasco again.

The flaws in these last two season aside, I think they still deserve credit for what they did with the entire run of the show. People seem to be acting like they had nothing to do with the quality of the first few seasons just because they adapted it from pre-existing material. Adapting novels to film isn't always a home run. Sure, great source material helps, but there have probably been more terrible film adaptations of great books than the other way around.

  24. I’m not trying to me mean, it’s just my gut reaction to seeing that dude’s face next to posts. The posts lose serious points no matter what they say because of it. (It’s the same thing on Twitter.)
