  1. I just keep going back and forth between this and The National. What a wild new music day

Your avatar kind of made me have the thought that to me this album seems like a better version of what Kevin was trying to do on Arizona Baby (an album I did like a lot for the record)

Just listened to this... meh. There are a few tracks I like on here, but Tyler is still yet to make an album I enjoy in full. Genuinely don't understand why people think he's so talented?

OKRA is better than anything on this album

I think Flower Boy is basically perfect to me, but agreed on your other points. A few songs keep coming back and being catchy in my head, but I don’t even know if it’s enough to say I like the songs.

And yes, OKRA is miles better than anything on here. Love that song.

  6. "Okra" is an absolute banger, but this album is better for the direction and risks it takes.

I respect him taking the risk to change up his style so much, but I still don’t like the final product.

There's lots of tracks on here that barely even sound like complete songs... they're more like half-finished sketches. I'm just not into it.

no one in hip hop/popular music is using chords/harmony/textures/dynamics to this extent, he really utilized all the tools at his disposal in very subversive ways. Its not hard to see why people think he’s a genius imo

I put my music on shuffle after listening to this just now and a menomena song (sleeping beauty) came on and it vibed perfectly with the album. Wonder if Tyler is a fan

  13. Felt the same way about Flower Boy at the time but this really sounds to me like a post-Blonde record. The breadth of that album's influence is showing up more and more as the years go on.

idk I have to give this a few more spins but my first impression just made me confused why people think this is so innovative. This sounds like discarded b-sides from Pablo era Kanye.

I like the album but I don’t think it’ll get to the level of how many times I played flower boy.

it seems like just a once in a while listen.

  21. Yeah this doesn't sound anything like Pablo, nor does it try to. Honestly can't think of what this is most comparable to off the top of my head

Pablo is one of my all time fav albums haha
But as I said, I’ll probably have a more correct take in a few listens.

Really feeling this. He easily could of made Flower Boy 2 but went in a different direction and I think it came out great.
