I Don't Smoke physically hurts me.

 

I've been doing my best lately to make myself more accessible and not as closed off to people as I used to be. It is difficult. I'd like to think I have been successful in some instances. But, then I hear something that is being joked about and I understand I should let it go, but I speak up and it invariably leads to me being considered a downer. It is frustrating and makes me want to revert to being more insular/unapproachable.

 

For what it's worth, Dom, every time you speak up about anything I feel like I have an opportunity to learn something. Its always been worth it to read/listen, and sometimes groups of people need someone to be willing to tell them when they're crossing a line. So, in my opinion, you should keep speaking up. It's for the benefit of everyone.

 

My dad's cousin and his family are coming over for dinner tomorrow night. Too many people with 4 very loud children.

 

I go to Walmart or Target and seeing people with their kids makes me so glad I never got caught up in that business.

 

Thank you. It is more of a problem in my daily life. It is a very privileged problem as well, so I feel shitty even thinking about it. However, it remains frustrating, particularly when I alienate people who should so obviously know better.

 

My gma called to bitch about my mama and my mama called to bitch about my gma. It's always interesting to hear both sides. For Mother's Day I got my gma a light blue/turquoise purse that is a good length and size to hang from her walker. She said she feels like a spring chicken carrying it and all her friends are jealous. She warms my heart sometimes.

 

Please tell me she actually used the phrase "spring chicken"

 

I have crotch holes in 2/3 of the pairs of jeans I wear to work. Ugh.

 

She did. She says stuff like that all the time and she's pretty funny. Her accent is the most southern I've ever heard which makes it all the more funny.

Yeah mine are wearing very thin right now. Need to patch them up.

 

I feel the best I have ever felt about my life. 2016 is going the way I wanted 2010-2015 all to go but didn't. I'm finally sober, I"m single (which I needed desperately), I bought a computer, a drum set, a plane ticket to NYC (spending ten days there in September, first time traveling alone), I'm writing, finally doing stand-up and playing music again, I'm just so happy. Gah. Sorry to blab. This is about 6 years in the making.

Also, that just goes to show, that even when you're in your darkest hour, that all is not said and done. I've been homeless, used and hurt people, stolen, lied, all consistently for the better part of the last 6 years, so shit can change. I love all of you and if anyone here ever needs to talk, I'm here. This community has been a pillar of my life for about a decade. Sorry for being shitty to some of you during that time.
