Haha it’s is too gloomy for that! It’s like 60 and rainy.

The apartment/loft was downtown Minneapolis (north loop, the “hip” area of downtown), super nice and updated kitchen. Downside was it was only 600 square feet or so, but the location was amazing. Also downside it would be like 2 grand total. Haha I hate apartment searching.

 

I’m sorry why the fuck is Minneapolis more expensive than Atlanta that makes no sense lol. Minny is great but Atlanta is twice the size and twice the job market.

2 grand for 1 bedroom, 600 sq ft? Jeeeez. Plus way higher energy bills in the winter. I remember my dad paying $1800 for something similar just outside DC in the early 2010s, which is a notoriously expensive city.

 

Rental/housing here is just in demand, my cousin was wanting to buy a place like a year and a half ago but hasn’t found anything yet. I just read an article saying Minneapolis is reaching Denver/Seattle level for prices. It’s wild. But I currently live in a two bedroom townhome like 15 minutes outside of the city in a suburb, and pay around the same for that. People will pay for location.

 

Yeah that just makes me feel like I’m moving to Atlanta at the right time before it’s own housing market blows the fuck up.

Now that Midwest cities are booming it’s like the southeast is the only part of the country with affordable big cities.

Big cities around America are slowly becoming COMPLETELY inaccessible to the middle class. It’s awful. Time is running out for me to establish a professional skill.

The only way to afford NYC without a professional trade is to do what Jax’s biggest punk / indie music promoter just did -

She is a talented bartender and just got 3 bartending jobs so she can work almost every day. Bartenders make like $500-$600 on a busy night, that wouldn’t be possible for a server like me unless I got in at two of those $100+ per entree, super upscale places. Which itself is a lot of pressure to act and present yourself a certaun way.

She’s one of those people who seems to have limitless energy and not need sleep, and that’s a common theme with everyone I know who gave NYC a real shot. I couldn’t do it. I need my time to decompress from anxiety.

But depending on how you look at it, bartending can be considered a “trade” too lol so there’s just no room in that city for working class people.
