Don’t really know self-titled or Sad Songs well enough to rank them in there. They’re at the bottom.

Too early to say on this one. Probably before or after Sleep Well Beast.

 

This is an absolutely phenomenal album, but I don't like it *quite* as much as everyone else seems to. I do have some critiques and it seems like most people feel this is complete and utter masterpiece.

This is an amazing band putting together a run of albums for the ages though. No question.

 

Anyone not willing to put this album into their ranking yet is a coward

 

Counterpoint: anyone willing to put this album into their rankings already is jumping the gun in comical fashion.

 

I'm so sorry I started the rankings again, it was intended as a joke in that I refused to rank them

Also I've heard the album maybe ten times, how about don't tell me I can't have an opinion on it

 

Eh, I don't care if I'm comically enthusiastic about this album. Rankings mean nothing anyway.

 

Counter-counterpoint: these rankings are arbitrary and no one is going to hold anyone to any of this so placing the new album is harmless and a fun way to contextuallize initial impressions within the grander scheme of their body of work

 

There is no such thing as jumping the gun with an opinion. Opinions are fluid not etched in stone for eternity.

 

I mean, they're not really "arbitrary." We're music fans, lol. We think about this stuff obsessively. I haven't really wrapped my head around this album yet, so I'm not going to hold it up against stuff we've had for years.

 

Honestly, I really do not care whether you rank this album at the top of their discography, ha. I just thought your post was silly.

I’m not ready to rank this album above High Violet, but I am totally prepared to say that it’s better than brackets.

 

It’s pretty telling that there are brackets for Good Charlotte and not The National

I rest my case

 

I've never seen a bracket thread for a band that remotely interested me.
