The funniest thing is I agonise for literally years over lyrics just sitting in my bedroom writing songs nobody will ever hear and then you listen to any pop song and most the time the lyrics are total bullshit on some "up all night/morning light...be my girl/diamonds and pearls.... party/bacardi" obvious rhyme thing since by and large most people really don't give a fuck haha.

I'm no song writing professor or anything either but I've found that trying to write songs in a different genre than you usually do sometimes opens up the lyrics road a bit easier since you maybe approach things from a different angle.

It's finding the middle ground between simple and accessible and not too wordy and pretentious

Totally. I mostly like straight forward kinda conversational lyrics rather than overly poetic ones (unless the writer is REALLY good at them like Frances from Hop Along.) which is why I love Mark's Dude Ranch/EOTS era lyrics the most and more than the kinda abstract, disconnected phrase thing he does a lot now.

I feel that. Chris Conley of Saves the Day is probably my favorite lyricist because of his good blend of abstract with straightforward story telling (specifically between Stay What You Are and Under the Boards eras)

I personally love In Reverie’s dreamy lyrics and Sound The Alarm’s darker/angry lyrics.

Everyone talking about lyrics and I'm just glad to see I'm not the only one that's struggling to write as I've gotten older. Just a few years ago I felt like a wordsmith, but not so much now that I'm 30 and a father.

Tom can rejoin blink if he never sings live again and is only the backup guitar player. He can play the power chords during the chorus of all the small things.

We really need this album to drop ASAP, I just can't with all of this "Tom coming back to blink" talk.

It's crazy how many publications are running stories based on that one quote Tom gave. This reminds me of whenever Liam or Noel Gallagher are interviewed and the interviewer always asks "So will Oasis ever get back together?" And even if they say something totally vague like "that'd be nice" suddenly there's 20 news stories with the headline "Oasis Back Together???"

    These sites just love clickbait.

THIS WONT HAPPEN - but how amazing would it be if Tom was featured on a song on the new album and it was called Escalator?

Hey if my company spent $40 million we didn’t have to utilize top-secret alien tech and unearth gov’t secrets, I would drop breadcrumbs about rejoining my profitable band, too :hearno::seeno::speakno:

Not sure how the other shows are doing ticket wise but looking up the Hartford, June 29th show, and there's still tons of seats available. There's almost one whole section minus about a rows worth of seats available. Hartford, in the past, has been a very good pro blink crowd, usually sells out. Will be interesting to see if it fills up as it gets closer to the date and I know it's only been a week since tickets went on sale.

Same with the Buffalo date. This is what happens when you charge the same price for the pit/100 level as you do the 200s/300s. No one wants to pay $127+fees to be that far back especially when they could be close for that same price
