Does anybody else hear "The River" by Good Charlotte in "Los Angeles"? I think it's the vocal delivery at certain points. I love it.

How do they sit in the studio and not have that same thought? I mean it doesn't bother me that much, but I definitely hear it every time the song starts

  3. Except for you're missing one of the top tracks, "She's Out Of Her Mind." I can't get that song out of my head!

haha WOW I don't know how I missed that! I was reading the list and checking it twice to see what wasn't in there!

Not a bad thing, as AM is my favorite track from Neighborhoods. I'm still on my first play and I'm hearing little bits of pieces of every album and that was Neighborhoods component.

Opening guitar on Left Alone is totally Asthenia.

It's weird, it doesn't sound like particular song - just the darker/electronic vibe on some of the rockier tracks on Good Morning Revival. I never thought of Linkin Park until you mentioned it. I'm liking the album more and more with each listen.

    So much Linkin park haa

  10. Tisk tisk. Thank god you're not covering for Santa Claus on his lunch breaks. You would have let a bad kid slip onto the nice list or something, haha.

    Reunion tour

I've done the same thing, my version being:
    1. Cynical
    2. Rabbit Hole
    3. Bored To Death
    4. She's Out of Her Mind
    5. Brohemian Rhapsody
    6. No Future
    7. Home
    8. Kings
    9. The Only Thing
    10. California

San Diego could take King's place but I'm torn on it. Also, She's Out of Her Mind has become my favourite track.

I knew a Santa line was coming from you as soon as I typed the "checking it twice" haha

But back to the music, "She's Out Of Her Mind" has probably my favorite pre choruses on the album

Next Show - Foals April 22nd

They announced a Montreal show this morning! Had a feeling we might get one. Got to see them on Friday night too. It's a good week for Blink.

I'm going to have to listen to this a few more times before judging but this isn't what I was expecting

I really wish I liked this more than I do. It's undeniable that's it's catchy and I find redeeming parts in every song. Unfortunately for myself, the bad outweighs the good on most songs. I'd always been more of a fan of Tom's lyrics and song writing but I had high hopes for the Mark/Matt combo. I wanted darker material lyrically and instrumentally. I realize though that not everyone wants this including Mark. For me, I was first introduced to blink during the Untitled era. I grew to love Dude Ranch, Enema, and TOYPAJ but they weren't what initially drew me to blink. I think that's a huge factor in how people view the band and their expectations.

That being said, I really love San Diego and I like Los Angeles, Bored to Death, and Rabbit Hole (mainly for the chorus). I will probably throw on the album when I have friends in the car because it's easy and agreeable but I don't see myself coming back to it often. I will still see them live and I will always listen to anything they put out.

I'm having few "lifetime" friends that are big diehard blink fans over after work to chill by the pool and jam the album for the first time...none of them have heard it yet so I'm kinda stoked to see their reactions.

I'm thinking it will be bittersweet since I have spun it about 3-4 times already and I won't get to have the whole first time effect with them that they all will, but I'll be sure to keep my opinions to myself and not pull the "dude listen to this next fill that Travis does"..."coming up is matt's best verse!"...I would hate it if someone did that shit to me haha

Why would blink sponsor chorus if they 'black listed' the site? Seems like they wouldn't advertise on a site refusing to pull a post about the single leaking...

Listening to California, as it has sunk in, I miss a lot of the direction they took with Neighborhoods. The execution wasn't perfect, but I can definitely see portions of what Tom brings to the band that I miss on this album. I know people think Neighborhoods sounded awful, but I think the riffs are a lot more memorable, for example. The longest intro to a single song on California is to the <40 second long Brohemian Rhapsody. Meanwhile, with Neighborhoods the first track's intro was longer than that entire song! I love the way they used the synth to lead into the simple guitar riff.

I guess what I'm getting at is that this album just feels fast, and it feels like I'm getting the vocals shoved down my throat much more than I'd personally like to. I would like more room to breathe and enjoy the instrumentation, especially leading into the songs. There's more that I'd say if I thought about it further on this album, but there's also a lot that I like about it too.

For me, the songs that shine the most are Bored To Death, Los Angeles, and San Diego. The San Diego chorus is probably my favorite thing on the entire album so far. I know the album will grow on me more and more, I love anything Mark Hoppus creates pretty much. I just definitely was not excited about the direction it sounded like they were going to go for, and now I really understand why, haha.

I mean, seems like they must be over it.

Also, I think it was the label that had a problem with it, not the band.

When I saw Blink at Riot Fest 13' I wanted them to quickly go through anything from Neighborhoods because I didn't think the songs translated that well live. I had already seen them in 09 so now I've seen Blink perform the hits twice.

Expectations have been met with this album. I'm excited to see them perform these songs.
