The amount of character arc regression/sabotage is the problem. If the books are the same, having it go into more detail on WHY would sit better.

 

I never thought he was going to kill her, I thought he was going to help take her down so he could try to prevent them from executing her. But this made sense as well, no matter how much better of a person it seemed like he became, he always went back to her.

 

I dunno. George R.R. is going to get his chance here since this has been a fairly unpopular season compared to past ones. I think there will be more build that might make it more of a believable move than such a snap reaction over an episode and a half.

On one hand, this show is constantly entertaining. On the other hand, the story is garbage. Glad it's over next week.

i definitely agree there. But I think the failure was in the execution, not in the actual move. Highly Varys's betrayal more. Do a scene where the notherners are acting warmly towards Jon but acting cagey towards Dany. Really hammer home that the only people from Westeros she can remotely trust are the person with a better claim to the throne than she does and a Lannister and so really, she has no one. Then I feel like her going full mad queen fits a whole lot better.

She had everything she wanted, she burned the fleet that killed her dragon, and including at least what she thought was an inevitable capture of Cersei, and she just just decides to kill literally everyone in a rage??? That’s not the breaker of chains! It seems like such a leap to get to a particular end, so rushed.
