Yep, I get a lot of shit for throwing shade at Southern Air, but man... that record was just so by-the-numbers Yellowcard so late in their career that I just couldn't give it a pass. Just sounded like the band on autopilot. Went back to it earlier this week given the recent news and still feel the same way. Good songs but just heard it all before.

That said, I like Lift A Sail and the majority of Lights and Sounds, so my YC opinions are pretty contrary to the norm on all counts.

 

I've never really liked Yellowcard, so I might have to take a pass on this one. I'll check out whatever you guys do for sure though!

 

I wonder if the comp will be mostly One for the Kids and Ocean Avenue. That's certainly what I'm most drawn to, at least in terms of what to cover.

 

I dunno. I was surprised by the lack of Blue/Pinkerton covers on the Weezer comp. Only 3 out of 14 IIRC.

I'm pretty sure I'll be doing a post-OA song.

tried doing the guitar/vox at the same time thing that i usually do and couldn't get a passable vocal take so i recorded all the guitar separately and now i'm sitting here trying to not sound awful and it's not working well :/

 

Hey guys I'm sorry to pull out so late. I've been trying to finish 3 songs for a rock opera I started writing and I got caught up on that. I need to finish them soon as I gotta play a show at the end of July, so I've been stressing over that.

 

i know that feeling... I haven't even started my cover yet. Ha. I've been moving all week. I'll have time tonight though. But yikes. Cutting it close! Haha

 

How many submissions did you get?

 

He's probably busy trying to grind out his own cover like a procrastinator! Haha.

I'm sure that he's had at least 4.

Yeah... two were mine. Haha. One was you and the other was Jonah's. I assume Brad and @nothingsforeverdude 's cover will be in... that's at least six!

 

I sent mine in about an hour ago, and I know my brother sent his in yesterday! I hope people really come through for this one; Saves the Day deserves the recognition for sure.

 

I'm sending in my second one, which took me 25 minutes to do. So it's a bit rough around the edges, but I want to beef up the compilation.

We have 10 so far! It'll be 12 after Joan and I get ours in. I'm on my way home right now to (learn and) record my cover. Haha. I've been moving into my new apartment all weekend. Haha ugh.

 

Sent mine in as well. Decided to have a stripped down version of just me and my guitar. ...Again.

I hope people don't think I'm lazy (not that that's not true sometimes...). It just depends on the song and whether I'm feeling it. I really enjoyed doing multiple instruments on the Jimmy Eat World comp, would probably do that again for Paramore and Fall Out Boy.

Not sure what I want to do with Yellowcard, though. Violin is one of the instruments I don't have.

feel kinda bad / lazy cause i basically cut the song in half by making the tempo rly fast and leaving some repetitions out but oh well
