Oh well I mean Gregor is much better as an actual name, but naming your kid specifically after The Mountain?!

Yeah same here. I'm just anticipating that some of it will be predictable and some of it will come out of nowhere, but hopefully it all gets wrapped up in a way that doesn't make me absolutely hate the show (leak reactions have me scared though).

I still feel....underwhelmed, I guess regarding the Night King's story (EP 3 and the battle was awesome though) so the overall ending has me a little intrigued as far as what they can get wrong or right.

Edit: Also, do you think anyone has named their dog "The Hound"?

I think there are definitely some parts of the leaks that could be absolutely fine in context but sound bad on paper. There’s really only one aspect that I don’t think could be justified in any possible way, and that’s what I really really hope was fake just to get people angry. The rest is probably a mix of true and fake and will come down to the writing......

Right, I feel like if I would have seen the overall plot for A LOT of this show just written down on paper in an abbreviated format, I would have thought it was awful haha. So maybe people won't feel as strongly once whatever it is actually happens (if it does at all)?

Ser Davos Fleaworth. He'd need a companion cat, though. Stannis Purratheon. You're welcome.

    Gendry from Fleabottom?

  7. Will anyone revisit this once it's over and you can just watch it all without any breaks? I probably won't, but I wonder if it would help the pacing issues if you can just binge it.

I think there are a few episodes I might throw on every now and then out of context, but that’s about it.

I doubt I will for this only because I have been trying to watch the whole series for years now and haven't managed to do it, but I know for other things I have watched - like True Detective - I enjoy them much more when I can watch them straight through on my schedule and don't have to wait.

I actually went through most of the old episodes in the week leading up to the start of this season. I'm not sure whether I'll find myself revisiting it once it's done, though.

All this talk about the books has me intrigued to reread them. I haven’t read them since about... 2016(?) or so. And I don’t remember shit about them. Maybe that’s what I’ll do this summer.

Also, I decided years ago after finishing The Dark Tower that my next pet is definitely gonna be named Oy, after one of the best characters in literature ever.

My original plan was to get two beagles and name one Tyrion and the other Hodor.

This legit sounds like a group of kids on the boys and girls lacrosse team.

Another naming plan: I wanted to get two Maine Coon Cats and name them Tywin and Lady Olenna Queen of Claws.

Oh, why I actually came to this thread: I keep thinking of the world of ice and fire nerding out that is probably going on at the thought of hte Unsullied fighting against the Golden Company.

i forgot about the Targaryen book that came out a year or so ago (Fire & Blood). anyone here read that? i might pick that up this weekend and read that before re-reading books 1-5. i'm a big fan of this world and the bits of history that have been shared, and while i usually like things kept vague or not explained in great detail, i think i would enjoy reading this. more or less curious how it reads. does it read like a history book, or like one of the ASOIAF books?

I've heard mixed things about how it reads. Most seem to think it reads like a history book, which I do not mind. But I haven't read it so I don't know. I don't even know if it's a narrative or a history book.

i dislike that it's only available in hardcover / Kindle right now (love me a paperback) but i may get this without knowing more details. i'll enjoy it either way, but would prefer it set up like a history book. can't seem to find any real reviews without some incredible searching effort. almost all reviews are just "what the fuck this isn't Winds of Winter?! fuck you Martin!"

It definitely reads like a history book, but not quite as much as The World of Ice and Fire does.

As someone who loves the world, I loved it. A couple of parts of it drag a little bit but still good overall.

    Lmao.

Euron: “A finda in de bum?”

    Stannis: *grinds teeth*

There’s so many characters I wish we could see Stannis interact with.

I didn’t think I would, but I’m considering it now that it’s back on TV. If I really hate the ending, then I probably won’t.

I’ll definitely do a rewatch. I haven’t watched any of the episodes (except a couple) more than once and I’d be interested to see how it looks strung together.
