I don't mind happiness is, but the first two albums are where it's at for me. Loved louder now upon release, but it hasn't aged well for me.

I've never gotten into TBS at all. the one album I've ever liked by them is New Again, but I haven't listened to it in years

Which is their worst album lol.

I agree. I still love louder now, but I am willing to admit that it's more because that was out around my senior year of high school, and I first saw them live touring it so it has nostalgic value. Set Phasers is and always will be my favorite song by them though

  4. There are laser sounds! Band was good when they covered up the really bad parts by ripping off Lifetime and Saves the Day and just playing. When they tried anything else it was just pure awful all around. I'd rather not go on my TBS sucks rant. Haha.

I think when I first joined absolute the very first thing I saw of you was TBS sucked rant. I was not very happy with it, but I was young and took things seriously then lol

Interesting. I've been a member of your site since 2002 and have never been told I've broken a forum rule before. May I ask which rule I've broken so as to not accidentally cross these lines again? I'm honestly a bit confused as to why my comment was so egregious.

Also...I'm not trying to tell you what to do but it's really hard to know who you are talking to when you don't quote us when responding. Maybe you have too many posts to keep track of, it's just a thought.

  9. Hahaha. :-)

But really ... dude can't sing and writes creepy lyrics over 30 Seconds to Mars b-sides, no thanks.

That seems to be the consensus, but it's the only one I ever liked a handful of songs on. Tried to like TAYF, but couldn't. Happiness Is was one of my least favorite things I heard in 2014.

I've got the makings of something written about the album. Not sure what it is yet. A review? Some kind of "first listen" for the supporter forums? But it's a start! I sat down as wrote 1,200 words and I'm just not starting to talk about the music. Haha. :scream::scream::scream: Need a break from the computer.

Gonna go give this new Voltron a try.

Oh are we talking about Toms parts on Pretty Little Girl? Lolololol

After two Tom-heavy Blink albums, it's great to hear Mark take the lead back. I say this as a huge Tom fan.

Does anyone think, now that Tom is gone, Blink may benefit from a 2nd guitarist?

  16. Aren't they just using a backing track live?

I feel like watching Voltron to help compartmentalize your thoughts on the new Blink 182 album is surprisingly apt.

Probably, I am more talking about someone who can write memorable riffs while Mark and Matt handle melodies and song structures.

It's my understand that most of Blink's famous guitar riffs came from Mark (like the Dammit melody). I was a little surprised that there wasn't much in the way of memorable guitar work on the new album.

I will say the first think I noticed on my first listen was that Travis was having a great time with these songs. He was definitely bringing his A game.

The band as a whole just seems more energized, and these are the kind of songs they write best.

I feel like the only person who thought Ghost on the Dancefloor was the best track on Neighborhoods. The track just hits me on a personal level.

Honestly there is a lot of potential on Neighborhoods. More Mark and Jerry Finn (RIP) would have made that album amazing. I sometimes listen to that album and grit my teeth at what could have been.

It's a VERY front heavy album. The best tracks happen early. By like 7/8 I'm bored and turn it off.

It's always hard to get through this album because the production is so bad. It's too "quiet". I know there is a lot of talk among audiophiles about the "loudness war", but Neighborhoods needed some heft.
