one thing I wasn't clear on, and maybe I missed something: why didn't he recognize his dad's voice

Maybe he didn't recognize it since he hasn't seen his dad for so long idk

I haven't seen my mom since 2014 and if I heard her voice coming from an animal I wouldn't realize it's hers

At the theater I was at, when Ryan Reynolds appeared as the kid's dad exactly 1 person clapped for 2 seconds and the awkwardness of that clap brought me so much joy

I was confused about that too. I guess it's just been a really long time but at the same time I feel like that's something you'd always remember so idk lol

  5. I loved this so much. Even better than I'd hoped it would be. I was on board from the first trailer and it delivers on that promise, with so many easter eggs for people who've grown up with the Pokémon franchise. I'm already planning to see it again, it was THAT good.

    beautiful and chequered, the end

a 50 year old dude stood up and started screaming at a 4 year old in my theatre "SHUT UP!!!" cause the kid was talking with such excitement with her dad during the film. needless to say that ruined my entire viewing as i couldnt stop thinking about this loser of a person. i get that talking during a movie is bad, but when you see a literal kids movie dont be upset that kids are excited and are filled with joy.

There was a , maybe, 2 year old behind me for the first half of the movie. It kept taking, but it was generally drowned out by the audio. Halfway through the mom gave up and they left.

The one funny part of it all though was right before the movie started. Regal played their little promo for themselves and in the silence after the kid yelled out, “whoa! That was cool!” and it cracked up the whole theater. I think that was the most excited the kid was, at least that I could hear haha

  10. I liked looking at the Pokémon and it was probably worth it for the bulbasaur, but yeah this wasn’t good

    That's really sad.

I went by myself last night because my weekend is busy and it was the only time to go and I ended up sitting on the end seat with maybe three or four 7 or 8 year olds next to me. It was nice seeing the kid next to me get excited by what he was watching. Even if he got a little antsy and chatty with his buds.

    Just a friendly reminder

Pokemon is for the children. Even if I don't end up liking the movie beyond the fan service, I have no doubt that my little sister is gonna love every minute of it.

I have some questions about the morality of human/Pokemon relations, so clearly some are wild and feral and some are domesticated pets like Psyduck, however with Detective Pikachu and the baristas and firefighters in Ryme City aren't being paid for their labor I'm pretty sure, Pokemon revolt , plus they're fighting in underground battles where they are hurt and get no pay while the humans get the money

the plot was definitely more convoluted that it had to be, especially the Zootopia/Avatar stuff, and it's weird because good and evil was so clear cut but also was Dr Rita Ora a bad guy or was her research exploited I have no clue justice for Dr Laurent

Tim had more chemistry with Pikachu then he did with Lucy, he and Lucy were cute individually but when he said he found her attractive I was like do you dude

how did Lucy make listicles for a television news network, that isn't a thing what was her job, just generic intern getting coffee we're still doing that huh

Ryan Reynolds is 19 years older than Justice Smith how the fuck was he his dad, also I guess he could have forgotten his father's voice since it had been like a decade but he didn't realize Pikachu sounded exactly like his dad

Not really sure why you think someone can’t have a kid at 19?

I thought he was a detective when Tim was born, also their ages in the movie aren't necessarily the same as in real life, I just can't think of Ryan Reynolds as old haha

I don’t recall them specifically giving his dads age. So Ryan Reynolds age doesn’t really matter

Pokémon who have legitimate jobs may be rewarded but I doubt it’s monetary. I don’t even know if Pokémon care about that. It would be pretty silly to have Pokémon revolting over that and, imo, unnecessary for these type of films. Chansey has worked at PokéCenters since ‘96. The professional relationships between humans and Pokémon could also be something similar to K-9 unit dogs.

As for underground fighting, that’s illegal anyway so I highly doubt Pokémon receive any benefits and really understand.

I’ve been kind of on the fence about this, but the design of Pikachu is so cute that I may pay money just to see him dance around and stuff.
