    hmmm

Llorente sub changed the game. Stopped Spurs playing the ball into Sissoko/Wanyama to receive under pressure and made them go long and force Ajax to drop back.

Still need the right players running off the target man though and Moura was outstanding.

Did we just fucking do that?

The "target man up front to bypass the press" is exactly what United did to Ajax a couple of years ago with Fellani. You're not going to win trying to pass round them, just go over the top and skip the whole thing completely.

  5. That’s literally what we did every time and we dominated the half. Just punt it towards Llorente and let him feed it to one of the attackers.

So, anyone call a Spurs Liverpool CL final back in August?

Yep, absolutely bullied the CB's didn't he? I remember Mou coming out either before or after the final and saying it's near impossible to beat them at their own game - why play to their strengths? You adapt to your opponent. Seemed to get a lot of flak from United fans for saying so if I remember correctly, but it's spot on. They've grown as a team since then, but this shows it's still a major problem for them.

Incredible, this CL run has taken away 10 years of my life, but we're in the final!

  11. i don't really have anything against spurs at all but i felt like ajax had the magic that could win the final and spurs have the literal opposite. lets just hope they stole ajax's magic by beating them lol

Glad I didn’t watch as I probably would’ve been sick at the end there. Ajax own fault they lost, but it’s just annoying how the media will now run their stories about how two of the top 10 richest clubs in the world “beat the odds” to get to the final and Ajax brilliant run will be lost.

  13. I think Spurs have had plenty of magic just in a different way.

After 3 games in the group stage we had 1 point. It was miracle we got out but we did. Then the second leg at City. Then today. It’s been quite the journey.

Well duh. Moyes’ sacking at United was the worst decision in the club’s history by far(it would have went better if they sacked Ferguson after that famous Nottingham game), he would have made Ferguson seem like a boring nobody who did nothing his whole life if he continued on his marvelous path of brilliant football. Oh well.

There’s been a lot of sour United, Arsenal and Barça (sort of guessing?) and other fans in this thread upset about LFC and Spurs in the final, even if both teams are a joy to watch, and Spurs were huge underdogs. But Ajax are not from the EPL (even tho their history is much greater than Tottenham’s by a lot) so they were bigger underdogs.

Still should be a great final.

Historically I’m not big on Spurs or Liverpool. But I am happy that we’ve got an all English final and tbh I quite like both their teams and managers atm (as much as it pains me to say it).

Think I’d rather Liverpool win it over Spurs as I love Klopp but it’d also be great to see Poch finally win something this big with the Spurs team he’s built. Really though I just hope it’s a great final and not boring.

  20. In the last year and a half Spurs have only had one incoming transfer player. Tonight he scored a hat trick to put us is the CL final. What the fuck.

I cannot believe that Tottenham won after going 3-0 on aggregate. Unbelievable comeback. YET AGAIN. Two in two days - what a brilliant thing and a reminder of the magic of football. I honestly can't believe it. As a neutral Brit, seeing Liverpool and Tottenham get to the final is just brilliant. No idea who I'll want to win as I respect both teams for different reasons.

You have to feel for Ajax because they've done so well to get this far, but I think Tottenham are in a similar bracket of having a young squad that has been together - neither team were expected to get this far, let alone the final. Shame one had to go out.

Still no idea how Tottenham won that.

Stat, but they are on the brink of a domestic treble.

Pep's net spend would look a lot better if City had managed to rinse Barca for over £100 million.

Dread to think what United's is to finish 6th mind.

You make a good point. To be fair though, hardly anyone was questioning how much Barca paid for Countinho at that window. Whilst on the high end, most agreed he was worth it. It's not Liverpool's fault that his performances and value has declined sharply. You could argue that Barca have paid over the odds for a number of players in that last few years.
