Modern pop punk bands don't even know what hooks are.

Yeah, Los Angeles is dope, gives me a Neighborhoods vibe with slick production. I can't help but have Good Girls by 5SOS pop in my head during the bridge

And 5SOS couldn't on that last album either.

    ZING!

Yep, that album was bad. I enjoyed the first one to a certain extent. I don't remember anything about the second one other than not enjoying it.

Never actually heard it! I'm not a fan of those dudes I just remember that one catchy song all over the radio so I assumed they had more like it.

Really, I think Mark is just one of the best at what he does, which is writing memorable, catchy hooks.

I'm not sure how anyone can justify missing Tom. What element of the band that people love isn't present on this album? Some Blink fans are infuriatingly picky.

I don't think Tom is capable of writing (or wants to write) the kind of music he used to anymore but I agree. Most things he does now have the same irritating dinky dink stop start rhythm like Ghost on the Dance Floor or whatever. It's not even a "BRING BACK TOM" thing because Matt has written plenty of them too but I miss the "guitary" intros.

Songs on Enema are all simple as shit but intros like Dumpweed, Going Away, ATST, WMAA, Adams Song, Wendy Clear, Dysentary Gary just gives another layer of enjoyment to a song for me. I don't think it's crazy for people to say they like old stuff more just because they're both pop punk. Obviously Enema was the poppiest bunch of pop that ever popped but there are slight differences in the tone that separate it from California. I think Enema just flat out has consistently better melodies.

Their first album was catchy, second album was bad

This is why the Feldmann stuff cracks me up. I can't get into that band at all and gave it an honest chance. Blink has been doing this for years. They wrote some good choruses on Neighborhoods with no producer. They do not need someone to come in and write them a hook.

Exactly... I can't get these songs out of my yead!

I think it definitely shows here that they worked with a producer though. Plus for the glossy sound they went for, there's probably no one better than Feldmann.

Oh definitely. This is what blink should sound like. I've still only heard four full songs but this sound is right in line with blink at their peak. The production complaints are insane.

    More songs about aliens.

The whole blink fan base really is just so unnecessarily picky. Take this album for what it is: a fun, catchy, summertime pop punk album that's full of energy imo. You either like it or you don't, but don't make up stupid shit to justify why you don't like it.

I do, haha. He's shit but I enjoy him more than Mark or Matt. Well I did, after the most recent AvA and To the Stars stuff I'm not sure anymore.

Life just suuuucks, I lost the ooooooone

Change of topic, but I spent all of this weekend listening to Enema of the State, what an amazing album. I think the only song I don't absolutely love is The Party Song. Don't Leave Me, Going Away To College & Dysentery Gary are my favourites on it.

The personality and energy of the band has basically always been the biggest aspect of blink. You're not going to take any one aspect of blink and get into a serious discussion about music with anybody, maybe outside of Travis. People can say "this lyric is bad" and I can pick out a lyric from my favorite blink song ever and it's not that different. If you're delving that deep into blink, you're thinking way too hard. When this thread turned into a referendum on blink's guitar playing, I thought I had entered the twilight zone lol.

What if they aren't making up the reasons they don't like an album because they're people with feelings and opinions?

Im in the camp that neighborhoods wasn't that bad, but this statement is just so false (neighborhoods' songs being better).

Statements like "Feldmann ruined this band, he made them too poppy" or "These songs are so generic, any pop punk band could've written them" are pretty made up.

This just in from a Facebook user:

"As a fan since 1997....this album is fucking embarrassing. No wonder Tom got beamed up by the aliens... Abomination. From Blink182 to 21Pilots..."

I may deactivate all my social media accounts until the Blink dust settles..
