I think the fact that the record has 16 songs is going to help this album do really well commercially. Which...usually isn't the case because of "filler" obviously. But it seems like everyone is finding enough tracks on this album to justify liking the album overall. You want enema blink? sure. "experimental" blink? sure. joke blink? sure. new direction blink? sure.

And since everyone (not literally) is finding enough to justify liking the album, it should really help add to the hype and people recommending it to others.

I think thats a good point. There's enough spread out over the album to please any Blink fan.

Super cool to see The Front Bottoms get added to the Atlantic City date. They could replace any of the openers on any of the dates and I'd still be completely happy.

It's weird, all I've listened to the past 24 hours has been this album. I really enjoy it, front to back. Once the sunshine comes out, it all clicks and I can't seem to shake a number of the melodies. Didn't expect this album to catch such fire with me.

Gotta switch back to Direct Hit! eventually though lol

There's actually going to be a couple more bands playing as well. It's a Radio 104.5 mini festival show for Labor Day.

Oh, and for those looking for your Rancid reference, could it be the "life won't wait" mention on "No Future"?

I love how Mark tweeted "Lyrically I swear I won't use the poetic device "and she said" anymore. But themes of loss, water, and broken relationships will persist." then later he uses it multiple times in both She's Out of Her Mind and No Future.

I thought it was a Nine Inch Nails reference too.

just finished. overall, didnt enjoy this record. i cant believe how bland the guitar work was on this record. I feel like Skiba was trying too hard to write cliche-blink riffs. like so many songs on this record had the thing Blink has always done where they do a riff with a couple notes and a moving bass note. Bored To Death opens with it, its in No Future, and i heard it multiple other times on this album.
ending the album with a joke song just felt weird to me. like, thats it? thats the note im ending this on?
essentially nothing stood out to me. i thought a lot of the vocals felt over produced. Travis's drumming was awesome. Nothing was really interesting to me. like, self-titled had moments like on "Violence" that just really pushed the boundaries of the genre. 0 moments where i felt anything even remotely "new". the joke songs just felt forced for me.

anyway, i know a lot of people are loving this record and im really glad. im sorry i only have negative things to say, to each their own. most people in this thread are way bigger fans of the band than i am, and im glad the album is resonating with those people so far.

Do Spotify plays factor in the charting of albums?

If Sober doesn't get massive this summer I'll be shocked. Some really good catchy songs on this album.

Really stoked to hear Mark and Travis still have it in them to write a great album.

Production wise this album is very similar to ATL's latest but that is a given with Feldman at the helm.

Heads up: Someone on Reddit just compared the new album to Force Awakens. It could just be parallel thinking, but that might be enough to keep you from using the analogy all the same.

Maybe it'll grow on me but I really don't like Los Angelas - it's sort of one of those "harder" more straight-ahead rock songs that alternative bands sometimes do that I never really dig, like Disappear by Motion City. Can't think of any other examples right now and maybe that only makes sense to me ha. I have always felt that way about these types of songs but never know how to express it.

The start of San Diego sounds toooooo similar to Bored To Death...not sure if I find that lazy or not?

There's definitely a good 75%ish of this record I enjoy, but some songs on here are just not working for me right now. Maybe later they will grow on me, but not really feeling them.
Cynical, just love it so much.

How can you dislike this album so much if you like their other music? They're not really that different.

It's not a good analogy. If it was you would see a lot of people comparing this album to Enema of the State.

I don't consider this album a throwback at all. It's a continued progression of the band's sound.

I believe they count any streaming services. Drake had 33k album sales this week but the Sales Plus Streaming chart shot his number up to 121k.

Oh. I don't always like all albums from a particular band equally. Sometimes I just prefer certain ones over others. It's weird I guess? You don't have some albums that you don't like despite really liking the artist?

I don't know if seeing the Cure the day before this leaked has anything to do with it, but San Diego is my jam. Just so damn catchy and fast, pure Blink. I love this entire album. Los Angeles is a new school Fall Out Boy song done by a band I like better, love it. The Only Thing That Matters is the lovechild of From Here To Infirmary and Enema of the State.
