I'm a huge metal guy but as a kid in a religious household, my first exposure was just to "christian" metal bands, so I never have the nostalgia or experience growing up with 80s/90s bands like Metallica or Megadeth.

I've branched out more and more with all kinds of metal by now, but I still have the most nostalgia and love for those original "christian" metal bands, which I legit think are great and influential.

Luti-Kriss/Norma Jean, The Chariot, Zao, etc... they're all incredible.

 

I liked Megadeth, sometimes I wonder what Metallica would have been if they didn't boot Dave.

It's funny, last night I watched the Some Kind Of Monster documentary and it made realize why Lars couldn't work with him.

 

Metallica aren't easy to work with either, Kirk just kind of tunes their shittyness out. It's just James and Lars arguing endlessly, really. At least they aren't bad guys tho.

 

Scott Ian is a rad dude.

 

I love NFG for nostalgia but I do agree they're not very good lol

 

They aren't, I think James getting sober definitely made a difference.

I would recommend watching this. There is also a part 2 as well. We watched it this weekend.

 

Yea, I also think Dave Ellefson is a major conservative. Unfortunate because he was one of the reasons I picked up a bass way back when but I think he definitely had some influence on Dave.

I’ve literally always hated NFG. Their frontman is just a godawful singer and songwriter lol and the power chords behind him do NOT redeem him

 

JEW is one of the best out there.

They've made good-to-great albums consistently for 20 years and maintained the same lineup throughout that time. That is very very rare.
