I never stop being amazed how much can be abbreviated in the new 280 character limits on Twitter, and how these incidents are handled compared to the days of Livejournal's "FBR trash." I had to run SIO's post through one of those online translators to make sense of it:

Here we go again. Our label's attorney and PR firm are reviewing all of the contracts and social media involved, including posts that dissappeared from public feeds in a matter of days even if they were never set private and were meant to be read by the whole world.

We are thankful that more hasn't come out beyond this and that nothing has been posted or needs to be addressed yet on any platform besides Twitter. We wish we could have taken action sooner so all of this could have stayed where it belonged, "down in the DMs." We also realize that if we don't act appropriately we could end up worse off than L.I.F.T. even though we're a domestic band with vastly better connections and social media influencers. If we aren't careful this story could still be written up in the mainstream press and be searchable through Lexis-Nexis and not just Google which any script kiddie can game. We're not a religious band, but we thank God for Hootsuite and the noindex HTML tag, and we hope you do too.

We promise to update you after we are told if we stand to lose more by buying out Dan's contract or by dropping out of Sad Summer. We understand the longer we wait the more we risk both happening.

Had we acted like we had known earlier we could have avoided the risk of either and be benefiting from Sad Summer's nonprofit halo and by bands and industry operatives who would never call us out, as Warped Tour has benefited from for 25 years.

I know of several fawning, heavily sanitized "legacy" media pieces that are being made about the man and it's amazing how stuff like this won't even come up.

Everyone who feels like they "owe" him something is more of a sycophant than a fan, imo. There's never room for nuance or criticism.

What is the deal with Neck Deep? Didn't they kick out the one member who was accused of being a sexual predator/abuser?

 

Somehow, I get the sense that the Alkaline Trio cop supporter and the XXXTentacion collaborator/Joe Rogan guest may not have our best interests in mind.

I think their vocalist was the only one who wasn't accused.

I could be wrong because I haven't read about it since the accusations came out.

 

Sure, it would be great if they included some mention of that. But Neck Deep is so far out of Pitchfork’s atmosphere that it’s not a reach to say that whoever made that post is included in your note about how people that don’t frequent sites like this one have little to no clue about this situation.

Three of the four members were involved in trying to coerce an underage fan to send nudes to them (everyone in the band except the singer). Two of those three are gone, one of them is still in the band.

And the singer is a sexist prick so he isn't innocent either.

 

I’m not understanding what allows one member in Set It Off to take a “hiatus” at home with his fiancé while the other gets booted in a matter of hours for doing the exact same thing.

Yeah I guess. I dunno I feel like there should be affirmative responsibility on the part of news sites to do their research about bands with predatory members but maybe that's unrealistic. I mean I frequent this site obviously so it's not the same thing but I have never heard a note of Neck Deep's music, don't really fuck with pop-punk anymore at all, and still knew they were bad news. Whatever.

 

I can’t even keep track of the bands accused and of what, and who wasn’t kicked out or not, or is still in the band and did what, on just Hopeless Records at this point.

No idea, I haven't seen anything since 2015.
