  1. Let's play a game: are these comments about new or old Blink-182! From Reddit or the pages of history! Choose wisely.

Don't get me wrong, I used to love Blink-182. Futhermore, I am not some 14 year old with pink hair who immediately labels every band as having "sold out" as soon as they begin to play on MTV. However, at this point I'm really beginning to wonder what happened to Blink-182. People have said that this CD was an attempt to get back to Blink-182's roots. I'm sorry, but I remember when Chesire Cat and Dude Ranch came out, and this is most defiantly NOT that [...] the glossy, overproduced mess this is.

here is no more of the hard edged pop-punk sound with all the funny lyrics and stuff. Now there just another stupid popish thing. ... I dont know what in the world they are thinking. Everybody love them for who they were, not this retared crap they put out now. I was so hyped up for this album and it completly destroyed my week.

this cd...OH NO. NO NO NO. terrible. are they trying to be depressing and emo? their lyrics arent even sentimental or thought provoking: they suck. they are trying to immitate what many other bands can do better.

The topics are still predictable, the vocals are still really, really annoying, and the music is still mediocre. Point out one single instance on this album where the musicians actually try something new. Can you? Didn't think so. Throughout it sounds like the same overproduced, pseudo-punk garbage Blink have been getting fat off of their entire career

But now WHATS WRONG? they started to make some overproduced and boring songs that only demostrate that their time of fame is going down.

I listened to this whole CD once, and I hated it. I had to sit through it again, but just so I wouldn't miss something to put in this review. The guitar riffs are dull and boring, but the only reason people like it, is because they are upbeat and "cool". But what this music lacks is a guitar solo and real guitar riffs. I bet the guitar player can't even play a solo. The only things good on this CD are the drum beats

Man, Blink-182 SUCKS!!! They sound JUST LIKE GOOD CHARLOTTE AND SIMPLE PLAN!!! Along with other similar crappy, untalented bands. This sucks! Definitely don't buy this.

If Blink wants to make this music they should at least let their new fan base of 13 year old girls know that THIS ISN'T PUNK. It disposable garbage that old fans of Blink shouldn't even consider picking up.

This music is so un-original, they use the same tone vocally, and musically, a real bubblegum pop, for teenagers who like no to challanging music.

Although many people seem to think that this album is a developmental step and worthy of its accolades, if you listen to any other smaller poppunk bands you will hear the same sound with superior vocals and better energy. The whole album is overly polished and smoothed to be just homogenous enough for the pop-listening audience it appeals to. Support a local poppunk scene and you will hear much better things.

A perfect example of just how bad the music industry in America is getting. They are unoriginal and offer nothing new to music in general. It's more of the same thing, basically. My question is this; where's the talent? Good only if you're a socially-inept, low self-esteemed, and are out smoking pot with your supposed friends.

So unless you want a [amt]coaster, makeshift frisbee, or object to straighten broken furniture I wouldn't recommend buying this. Unless you enjoy torturing yourself by listening to horrible trl teenybop mindless talentless sell out trash.

So what you're saying is, you don't like that they have matured in appearance, content or musicality, or that copy cat bands were poor versions of them and that ironically they have surpassed everything those bands have been trying to accomplish this whole time.

  3. Round two! Am I from Reddit about California ... or Amazon reviews for their past albums!

Aside from a few gems, [...] this album is an overproduced wreck.

This album lost it's lyrical spunk and we were just stuck with the poppy guitar riffs, not to mention it was basically an exploit of everything trivial to teenage life. I mean these guys are getting pretty old, shouldn't they be trying to attract a more adult fan base?

These guys only want the money, their music is so popular that even a 15 year old Britney fan loves it

then when i popped it in, the first five songs seemed decent, although not very thrilling. and then it slowly digressed, to the point where i was getting a headache from the terrible music erupting from my speakers. they do have a few good songs on here, but don't expect much more. i say don't waste your money and wait for the hits to come out on some hits collection cd.

It's just not a good album, I've got about 5 complete plays now and it is just super forgettable. I am at the point that I wish it never happened.

I gotta say, other than the first I really couldn't tell at all.

Also- Blink-182 does a lot of different things on this album from what I can tell (haven't heard it yet). Enough to not be "more of the same". There's Los Angeles, dual vocals far unlike what they've done in the past, gang vocals, Home Is Such A Lonely Place, songs with punk guitar work unlike previous songs that were just fast power chords, Mark's more unique bass lines.

Amazon reviews are some of the worst parts of the internet. They make my brain hurt.

I don't think this record is as mature sounding as Untitled or Neighborhoods.. and I do think that copy cat bands are poor versions of blink. But no, you can still be mature and be cool.. I had no problem that they changed.. didn't mean to and don't want to come off as one of those people that says how they wish blink would still be writing songs with lyrical content of Dysentary Gary and running around naked.

EDIT: I also wouldn't consider All Time Low a copy cat band anymore, they branched out and become their own, i was more referring to when they were up and coming back in 06-07

  10. Yep, I would agree with you that there are quite a few different things explored on this album.

Also, I would be embarrassed as hell to write such an ignorant review on something that I clearly didn't know enough about and make it public. People are so weird.

  12. No, this album is boring and trite. The songs are repitious, and the content was obviously selected to please the lowest common denominator of the human population. Just because this music is faster and there is more profanity than most pop, does not classify it as punk.

LOL. These are incredible. I love some of the Amazon reviews more than I love the people saying the most asinine things about John Feldmann and discovering for the first time that Blink's vocals are not raw. It's a delicious meal.

  13. I used to think "Hearts All Gone" was a total throwback Blink song, and I loved it because of that.

Then I heard "The Only Thing That Matters"...

I have to wait three hours until I hear this. I haven't read through 30+ pages, so I'm glad I'll hear it without any of this thread's influence!

The choruses on She's Out Of Her Mind, and San Diego are pure Blink sugar coated goodness.

    I love this so much.

I bet some/majority of the people hating on it truly don't have a problem with the album, they're just trying to find anything and everything to complain about because they're still not over the fact that blink is a different band now.

Okay, let's say Tom was still in the band and they made this same album. Same poppy style. Just with Tom vocals. I guarantee the reaction from those people would be a *lot* different.

Yall move too fast for me... People have heard the album? Where???

  19. I'll go one further: three years from now I bet some 60% of them give it another chance and it's looked upon very fondly by Blink fans.

Honestly I was a bit skeptical , but tonight im listening to this on my speakers , and it reminds me of being in elementary school , and discovering their music. I will always have a warm spot for Blink, and one side of my brain that thinks they're the best band to exist, even if that is factually & objectively wrong.

That's what seems to happen with brand new and TBS fans as well. New Again and Daisy seem to be fan favorites at this point.

I'm not trying to be condescending, I'm really not, and it's not just you but I'm just having a hard time understanding what it is that people want from Blink besides to hear untitled 5 more times. Period. What is "cooler" than losing a prolific (obviously from fan perspective) member, saying "fuck it" knowing you're going to get shit for it and it could be the biggest disaster, picking up what's left, forming something new and then throwing down your years worth of experience, pulling in your resources and then making an album with at least 4 different genres on it? As a "pop punk" band with their legacy what's more "punk" than that? If someone said "they really needed to streamline what they're doing here" I could get that because while there's cohesion some of it is jarring from one track to the next. But basically going "I want them to do what they did 13 years ago but better" is such an oxymoron. I can assure you it hasn't been a great decade for limp bizkit.

  23. Don't get me started on Untitled vs Deja. Hahaha. I'll just end up pissing everyone off. Deja is way, way, way better.

  24. I definitely think that some time, a little space, does lead perspective. You get out of the routine of needing to put the opinion online and any biases you may have walked in with fade and you forget what you were looking for (and usually find). I dunno, I'm a firm believer in letting music sit.
