McTominay is our best player by miles the past month or so.

Ipswich won! We might still avoid relegation.

This ref is a complete prick. We've had two head injuries and he's let Huddersfield play on. Only blows it up when we win the ball. Dangerous refereeing.

Honestly, I think Ole might be the worst manager at making subs ever. Lindelöf off for Dalot? Leaving Jones on?

We won the race to not get Champions League. Fantastic job, all.

what do you think United should/will do with Ole?

There’s a rot in this club. The toxicity in the fan base, the punditry, is all taking a toll on me mentally. Going to consciously make an effort to check out of following things this summer, might check back in around late July.

United need new people running the club, which I know is difficult obviously, but to make top four twice in the last 6 seasons despite having top 3 revenue in the world in that time period is horrifically poor

Everyone involved in the club should be sacked.

In all honesty, love Ole, he's a great guy. He's not up to it. Questionable tactics, horrific substitutions. He's not a manager that can change the game in the middle of it. Woodward needs to go, or hire someone who knows what football is. It was pathetic that he gave Ole a permanent contract before the end of the season. Absolute amateur hour.

    hmmm

Is there anyone at United who ever thinks long or even medium term? I mean, clearly not but it's genuinely staggering that an organisation that huge can be so inept.

Giving Solksjaer the permanent job was really no different to giving it to Tim Sherwood. Short interim periods are not reflective of ability to handle a full season, let alone three. Tottenham understood that which is why they weren't swayed by Sherwood and let him go after his interim period to give the job to Pochettino. Aston Villa didn't and they paid the price the next season.

Signing Solksjaer up permanently after he hadn't any time to show he could handle a drop off in results was ridiculous. It's exactly the sort of short term decision making that made them bring in Mourinho or sign Alexis Sanchez or award new contracts to Young/Jones etc.

They badly need a complete revamp behind the scenes and new people who can oversee the footballing side of the club. And part of that means ridding Ferguson of having any influence on how the club is run or who they appoint.

Agreed. Woodward only wants quick wins, he got that with Solskjaer and subsequently lost it. I made a similar post a while back about it. The club is rotten.

IDK what PL teams do for this sort of thing, but having watched some of the game today, United need to invest as heavily in mental training as the physical training they desperately need. Their mentality, confidence and willingness to work was in a worse state than the literal worst team in PL history, in what was a must-win game. Do clubs have such thing as mental coaches that would help players with mental health-related side of things?

Word on the street is that Woodward is looking to bring in Rio, Fletch, and Vidic all for various roles. I guess it’s his way of trying to emulate the Bayern way of doing things.

I like Ole and think he could do well with a better squad. I think getting decimated by injuries hasn’t helped the past few months, but he’s done a really bad job adapting to them.

We need a long term vision and philosophy and to have a whole staff working towards the common goal of bringing in the right players, bringing through youth, selling when the time is right, buying for the future, I could go on and on.

This summer is so important, and I just know they’re going to muck it up. It’s going to get a lot worse. I think the past 18 months with Sanchez is a total indictment of how this club has been run post Ferguson.

All good players, but what do they know about running a club? We need proven people that know how to run a club.

The “old way” is a weight around the clubs neck atm I think. Those old players, Rio especially, should be nowhere near any role beyond coaches; Bayern very lucky that the old players they have in the big roles are very good at them, but even they were heavily criticised after their poor start to the season. Ajax did the same and they had to fire people like Bergkamp because his beliefs, that he learned when he played and was bought in to pass onto the youngsters, were holding the club back from progressing. Correct decision when you look at them now.

As much as I like teams who have a defined philosophy, it takes years and years to see the hard work pay off, and United (and Chelsea, who are in a similar position despite possibly getting 3rd) don’t have the luxury of time because everything moves so fast in football now!

whether we win Europa or not I want to see Emery gone (fully realize he won't be sacked though)

  18. Lose to Bournemouth and still lock in top 4 lmao

  19. League/CL should just step in and give the last two spots to like Wolves and Leicester or some shit who cares

Yeah, not saying that bringing in a bunch of ex United guys will get them back to the top. I do think that’s what they’ll go with though, just under the whole no one outside of United really gets it mentality.

Really anything that gets Woodward away from deciding who comes in and who goes out is better than what’s in place right now.

    What a weekend of mediocrity

Would love to know how dier doesn't get a red. And how lernas actions in the son sequence would be looked at with var (idk if that type of event will be reviewable next season). Crazy to see son react like that without some reason to retaliate

  24. Son got bodied pretty hard right before half and was down for a few mins. Then right before his shove he got hit in the back and stamped on the foot. He clearly lost his composure and his actions hurt his team, but it’s easy for me and other fans to say that in front of our TVs. They were going after him and it worked. Even so, him shoving a player is not a straight red. That asshole sold it so hard and made it look like murder.

Also wasn't Lerna called for a foul in the run up to the shove? Ref played advantage and then never acknowledged it (could've easily been a yellow). Guess my whole issue is, this really could've been prevented if the ref had taken control of the match and not missed Dier's tackle (I thought he got ball but it was close) and kick on Wilson in the box (definite 2nd yellow and peno).
