Same, those Victory DVDs got me into so many different bands.

I feel like for some amount of time in the mid-2000's and slightly later that Victory was the label so many bands aspired to be signed to. And when bands did get signed, it was a huge sign of making it and what not. Boy how wrong was everyone and how sad for those who got on board to find hell.

I don’t know. I think a lot of ex-Victory bands are still highly regarded and wouldn’t be where they are without the label. That doesn’t mean the label wasn’t corrupt.

Victory got really lucky in the 00’s with bands like TBS, BTBAM, ADTR, HH, etc. Their practices and reputation is ultimately what did them in and now, no one cares about them anymore. Same can be said for labels like Eulogy and Trustkill.

Eulogy is now under Stay Sick so I think there is a good chance that label will pick up speed.

Trustkill is still semi active under the moniker of Bullet Tooth and Josh is now actively using his law degree.

I never really got into Darkest Hour, not saying they are bad by any means, only ended up liking a few songs and the rest kind of faded into the background for me. I feel I always gravitated more towards The Black Dahlia Murder and Arsis when all those bands were active in the mid/late 2000s in regards to Atthegatescore bands.

Arsis 2004 album is still one of the greatest melodic death albums of all time in my opinion.

dude I can't stop listening to this album, just came out last week. Female-fronted Canadian epic heavy/doom metal with fantasy elements from Michael Moorcock's universe, similar to Eternal Champion. So good.

Speaking of Darkest Hour, here's the first single from Mike S.'s new band with Blake from Pig Destroyer.

oh yes, this is some pure filth. Cavernous death metal from Italy on Nuclear War Now records, came out a few weeks ago.

The new Amon Amarth sounds like Amon Amarth...which is a great thing to me. They're one of those bands that if they deviated significantly from their core sound, I'd be sad. Shield Wall and Ironside are highlights for me so far.

I was underwhelmed by Shield Wall but Ironside is great.

    Super consistent band!

I need to listen to more Amon Amath. Gonna be seeing them next week on the Slayer tour, so maybe I'll make playlist of their set beforehand.
