Thanks for posting this! It's never ok to darken or change white skin, regardless of intention, given the history of black, brown, and yellowface in this country.

A discussion with your parents about how it wasn't right is probably a good idea. And it doesn't have to be this awkward "mom, we need to talk" type thing. Bring it up around Halloween and just be like "man, that was a really dumb move guys" or something. It's important people in that age cohort understand racism in its subtlest forms without thinking that being aware of it is being hyper pc or whatever.

Why apologize when more than half the nation agrees with him? Racism is now policy and the new public norm in that country and we're soon to follow.
