  4. CC has been an integral part of my baseball experience since I was a kid--mom is from Cleveland and she and a lot of family are Indians fans, so that was how I first knew him. Was super cool to see him get a ring in 2009 and especially to see him be such a force in the postseason for the Yanks that year. Pretty fucking awesome that he's still doing the damn thing after all these years, and the air he breathes got a little more rarified tonight.

3000 is a great accomplishment. More rare than 3000 hits

CC has always been one of my all-time favorites. I went to his MLB debut back in 2001 and sat directly behind his family. I’ll never forget that.

yeah i guess CC is a HoFer. I'm usually pretty critical but i think he checks a couple of boxes. He had 7 great years and then a bunch of solid years around him to boot. Longevity, a couple of years of being a top pitcher, a cy, a milestone.

Now i'd say he doesn't really have that many WOW top 5 pitcher in the sport years. Only 1 year with an ERA under 3. But i like the innings pitched, CG's, strikeouts (and i guess wins).

    He's also under Mussina.

He's not a slam dunk but i think he eventually gets in

Yeah. But CC should go in the HOF as a Brewer.

I dont think it's a slam dunk. It took Mussina 6 tries before he eventually go tin and i see the same trajectory for CC

The way we’re evaluating SP HOF candidacies is changing. We’re in a world where SPs get less innings and less wins and less opportunities to add cumulative stats. With that in mind, Sabathia is a slam dunk HOFer who also happens to be pretty beloved by fans and writers alike. He gets in and does so earlier than Mussina, who also should’ve gotten in much earlier but voting habits hadn’t changed yet

right but sabathia's numbers arent really about that though. At least that's not what the knock is. What he lacks is, well, a solid ERA in most seasons. That doesn't really have much to do with cumulative stats.

unless you're saying that in the era that CC mostly pitched in, it's an accomplishment in itself that he was able to pitch deep into games and get that big strikeout milestone..okay, i can buy that i guess.

I dont know, to me,his durability and the fact he's still pitching pretty decently is what gets him over the edge with me.
