I'm actually excited to watch this. Been looking forward to it since it released

  2. I was pleasantly surprised with Escape Room. Nothing amazing (and hardly horror) but silly and fun

Cam was a decent watch. Nothing revolutionary, but it was entertaining. I’d watch it if you’ve got nothing else queued up

As someone who’s obsessed with escape rooms (played probably 50-60 across NA), I feel obligated to watch Escape Room no matter how poor it may be.

First half is exactly what you’d expect. Escape rooms. Second half is a laughable clusterfuck of bad cliches.

I only did an Escape Room once and upon successfully completing it with a minute to spare, was happy to hear that particular room only had a 20% success rate.

It combines two of my worst fears, being trapped (even if it’s fake) and group building.

I wonder how many relationships were ruined because of conflicts of trying to figure how to escape

I did a super lame Escape Room once in a mall and was very disappointed. However, there is a company called 5 wits that does family friendly escape rooms and they're kinda fun. Pretty interactive settings and what not, but simpler than anything we're talking here.

You’re never actually locked in, and if you remember that, even the “scary” ones don’t really feel scary anymore.

Just watched the original Poltergeist for the first time. Loved it. I had seen bits, and pieces throughout the years. Also all the references throughout pop culture. Hooper is such an interesting director, and now I want to watch The Funhouse. Also very sad to learn that the actress who played Carol Anne died at such a young age.

I credit the poltergeist for why I am creeped out by super pale blonde little girls.

If you read more about that amazing movie, there was a long time belief that the film production was cursed. Multiple people died if i'm not mistaken, including her.

Actually just got intrigued enough myself to look this up again and they actually did an E! True Hollywood story on it.

Another fun fact is that Drew Barrymore auditioned for the girl's role, didn't get it, but Speilberg liked her so much that he casted her for E.T. because of it. Awesome.

There’s a dispute of how much Hooper actually directed it, with cast and crew suggesting Spielberg had more creative control but some weird DGA rule where Spielberg couldn’t be credited with two separate movies released in the same year (E.T. was released a week after Poltergeist)

I think it was that he was contractually bound to E.T. to not take another directing role during that time frame. But, E.T. was delayed so Spielberg was left with more time to be on set and involved.

Some believe that it may have been the case Hooper was hired as a front so that Spielberg could do what he did with this film. I could see it. The actors said at auditions and onset he was there but not really there, and Spielberg was onset for every day except 3 of them. They both have claims over storyboard production and set production. The majority of the details i've read are that the concept of the story (A ghost haunting a family) was Hooper, and that scene setups were him, but all the changes afterwards and everything else were all SS.

Yeah I had read that SS couldn’t direct to to contract issues, but didn’t see anything about Hooper possibly not directing. Interesting

Joe Bob and Mick Garris both rant about this.
It was Tobe's movie and SS was very on hands as Executive Producer but he wasn't a "secret director" like the conspiracy theories say.

Joe Bob has a great (and kinda heartbreaking) rant about Tobe at the end of the Texas Chainsaw Last Drive-In Thanksgiving episode.

The Funhouse suffers from some weirdly slow pacing, but I really love it.

The fact the little girl in Poltergeist almost looked EXACTLY like my sister is enough for me to be freaked out by it.
