I would love to be able to travel for work, especially since I don't really have too much holding me down obligation wise haha

I've thought about doing something like that but I feel like it would bum me out so much to see how terrible people could be

    Goddamn, man child Prestigious

Yeah it kinda does sometimes. Usually it's all good unless I have to report someone then it bums me out. Otherwise it's really great to work with the families! It varies by branch/program. My relative works with families who are on the verge of losing their children so even tho we have some overlap her cases tend to be more depressing. Mine aren't usually as sad. They ping my radar cause they're low income enough or in foster care not necessarily cause the families aren't adequate or whatever.

there is no bigger waste of time than those goddamn Caliper / personality tests. Everyone knows how to answer those questions as a company would want the questions answered, so what does it do for a company? eliminate maybe the 1 percent that think they should answer honestly? amazing how much time and money is wasted on such activities.

    A DILAPIDATED BOAT! Prestigious

I'm going to try to get a promotion at Nielsen soon, i need to get out of the call center. I have alot of buddies that work in Panel Support which is essentially being almost like the customer support rep for people who have the meters, where you're responsible for everyone that has a meter in a specific market. Everyone says it's really great compared to what i'm doing currently.

Had no idea these were still a thing with DVR/streaming becoming more popular

I think they have a separate methodology for tracking streaming, and I know they have a way to count DVR viewing in the sweeps week diaries (which is the side of business I work in currently), but i'm not sure how or if they do it for the meters. Tracking live viewing though still seems to remain their priority.

I'm going to try to get into Audio Panel Support though which handles the mobile carry on meters for the radio ratings. I'll do the Video/TV side if radio isn't available though.

    Newbie

I'm a relationship manager with rank of Junior Ast. Mgr. at one of the top banks in the Philippines.

I'm in the Business Banking department, I find businesses to lend to via credit and financial evaluation.

Never thought I'd be working in a bank ever, let alone an officer in one, but I'm doing great so far. Been in the industry for 4 years already.

Super exciting day! I officially passed the Illinois Dept of Health EMT-B test! This took WAY longer than it should have (out of my hands) and caused some relationships of mine to get pretty rocky. But I'm SO glad I finished. My health has gotten in the way every other time I've attempted to go to school.

I'm currently working as a lead applications tester for a banking institution, but I'm also studying for my GRE. Long term plans are to get my master's in psychology and become a counselor.

I've been with my company going on 10 years and my plan is to jump ship before I hit that benchmark. Don't get me wrong it's a good job, but I'd rather being doing something where I actively have a positive impact on other people's lives.

I graduated with a degree in Political Science and have been job hopping ever since. I just started a part time office job and I don't know what to do in the long term because I also want to transition into a tech in the medical field but the application process has been taking a hit to my sanity.

Does anyone ever get discouraged about applying for a job because you don't fit everything about the job description? I feel like this often stops me from applying for a lot of jobs, and I have no idea how to convince myself it's okay to apply for some jobs where I don't fit every detail of the description

I just recently started working at a treatment center for alcoholism/drug addiction. I work in the Alumni department. Lot of outreach to people who have come through here, we have a weekly meeting which is always great. Plus we do lots of community service along with fun events. Its a pretty damn cool gig.

I say go for it! I'm finishing a degree in instructional design, and the university I attend opened up just such a position a few months back. Even though I didn't meet some of the criteria, I applied anyway. At the very least, I figured it would be good experience to go through the interview process. As it turns out, I start December 1st!

my problem is that i find myself in interviews where suddenly the interview team brings up a shitload of things about the job that weren't in the listing / job description, and of course, are things i know nothing about / have never dealt with.

I was job searching/applying very recently and found myself asking this same question. Although my approach doesn't apply to everyone, I sent out as many applications as possible without getting too attached to any job (i.e., spending too much time on an application). I ended up getting interviews for positions that I wasn't "qualified" for based on the description. In other words...do it! What do you have to lose?
