Yeah I’m talking about initial release. The way they did it with California made sense but deluxe albums are weird in the streaming era where people can just pick and choose which songs to begin with

I still feel like Neighborhoods deluxe is the real album and the 10 track version isn’t canon

I just realized I quoted myself when meaning to quote @ComedownMachine. That's what whiskey does to you when you haven't drank for over a month. Trying to get into wedding shape.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

oh 100%. feel the same way about Gorillaz' Humanz, I literally know nobody who doesn't consider the deluxe the standard version

I believe there's an interview with Mark somewhere where he says the Deluxe is the complete version to him and that the record label decided to do the whole "standard" and "deluxe" thing. It didn't make sense back then to me and it sounds like to me the band wasn't really for it. Maybe it helped them fulfill their contract though and counted it as two albums from them.

Some of the Sal Masekela video stuff was on the "Enhanced" part of the Enema CD. Back in my day we got our videos from the enhanced CD's not the fancy youtubes. haha, good times.

That's what I love about Enema, TOYPAJ and to a certain extent Untitled (Violence into Stocholm and Easy Target into All Of This) is the transitions are just fantastic and those albums really play as one 30 to 40ish minute track. Enema especially is like that and is such a fun and easy listen because of it. I would love another album put together that way. Probably one of the reasons Neighborhoods just seems so disjointed as there's no much flow between the songs and just seems like someone made a mix tape with no rhyme or reason behind it.

As far as interludes, if it's only 10 tracks I'd prefer no instrumentals (which I tend to skip most of the time if I'm playing blink on random shuffle) or joke songs.

Probably more of the record label trying to get people to double dip although I have no idea why anyone would buy both albums unless you really really really wanted to be a completest. I highly doubt it counted as two albums. I know when Green Day did Uno, Dos and Tre their record label only counted it as one. I'm almost 100% sure that Neighborhoods fulfilled Mark and Travis' two record deal contract that they signed for +44 since they never was a follow up to WYHSB. Mark or Travis gave an interview when Neighborhoods dropped with that info.

  13. Yeah, there was absolutely no reason to buy the "standard" version of Neighborhoods. That was so dumb, haha.

One of the things that I think hurts California is the fact that each song has like a 2 to 4 second pause between each track. If there was a better flow between the songs, it might have felt smoother.

Yeah I noticed that too. I really hate pauses between songs that long unless it makes sense like wanting the song to breath a bit before the next one. We don't need 2 to 4 second pauses between 15 songs though.

Listening to Enema right now and the flow from Going Away to WMMA and Adam's Song into ATST is freaking perfect.

  15. I hope the first single makes me as giddy as "Bored To Death" did. I'll never forget literally yelling "woo!" during it when I was listening to it in my car for the first time. Hahaha such a dork...

Ugh i had the worst experience. I couldn’t get BTD to play properly. I was on a very buggy iOS beta and it wouldn’t get past the first couple seconds for about 15-20 minutes. Heartbreaking. I kinda hate the intro to the song because of that

When listening to BTD for the first time, I remember the strings coming in at the end of the bridge, and i was just smiling thinking "Yup, Blink is back".

I'd dismiss the deluxe version of Humanz if it weren't for The Apprentice.

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade but the Up All Night single premiere is more memorable for me than Bored to Death because of the hiatus, etc.

I remember the first time I heard BTD was from a poor quality Youtube video. My son was a little over a month old and was sleeping on me so I had to play it quietly. My first reaction was that I couldn't tell the difference between Mark and Matt singing my second was I like it especially the bridge. It was only until after he woke up that I was able to find a better video and blast it that I truly fell in love with it.

  22. Hmmmm maybe but it was soured because it wasn’t a great song. At least not what I wanted. I think if they did an album like CA after the reunion, THEN did neighborhoods, it’d have been a more logical step.

I remember listening to KROQ's live stream on my computer and after they played it twice thinking "that's it?". I truly tried talking myself into liking it more than I did.

Yeah I think it was a poor first single choice but while I love After Midnight I don't think that would be a better choice either. I don't think Neighborhoods really had that radio friendly hit single that all of their other albums do.

Up All Night is definitely my least favorite blink single.

Yeah, I don't love Up All Night either but I just remember everything about that premiere more than the BTD release.

The real question for you guys though is who remembers when Man Overboard premiered?! I remember trying to stream it on "Real" player and the internet sucked so bad and probably 1 million other fans were trying to play it at the same time and I could barely get past Mark's bass intro. I was so upset, lol.
