Why is there a Vegas fan at the Colorado game?

 

I immediately thought, “makes sense, but weird that just because you’re on the ice when a goal gets scored you get a negative mark for it.”

Like - doesn’t make sense in a lot of ways, such as if you’re behind the net or in front and a teammate turns it over near the top of the zone and the opponent scores a goal real quick wtf are you supposed to do from almost 40-50 away when the turnover happens?

It may be interesting to see how often someone is positive or negative with certain line mates to maybe find a “weakness” but even that only says so much.

Maybe a site does this, but it would be interesting to see where a player is on the ice when each goal is scored. Are they in front of the net but not doing a good job or blocking shots and / or not knocking the opponent out of the way? Are they always trailing the play? Or are they housing their guy on the other side of the ice and are not the “cause” of the goal being scored?

The same reason there is a blackhawks fan at every NHL game ever. What that reason is, I don’t know.

It’s a bad stat. Ovechkin scored 49 goals a few years back and was a -35, that should say it all.
