This thread has been insanely hostile most times I’ve visited it lol

It's like Anakin on a beach in this place.

No, just the only one today. It's all good. I know admitting fault online can be hard. No hard feelings for real.

  4. This is a bummer because I just want to talk about Star Wars with people who like it as much as I do. Definitely don't want it to get contentious in here.

Nope, not the only one in the last couple pages at all. That's a lie. And please don't pretend like you're innocent in any way after joining in on the pile-on in the Julien Baker thread. You and I both know what the deal is even if nobody here does.

The entire idea of what a Jedi is is built into that framework of violence/attack vs defense/protection. It's arguably the most important theme to learn from the first trilogy. And, why Luke putting down his lightsaber in Jedi is one of the most iconic and amazing moments in film.

And the force has been used to 'protect' many times in the past. From Luke on Hoth to Bespin, to many many other times (lots of cool shit Kanan does). This isn't really that "new" in the world, but, beyond that, it's inclusion doesn't completely alter the entire idea of what a Jedi is.

I'm here a lot, and I don't usually find it hostile. It's usually a pretty chill place where like minded people nerd out together about Star Wars.

Apologies to everyone else in this thread for letting my personal frustration that's been building up over the last two days get in the way of the discussion here. That's on me. I shouldn't take it out on all of you. Very sorry, really.

Yeah I mean idk. I just wanted to see what other people have been thinking about it. If it’s like that then I’ll just see myself out and share my excitement with my fellow filthy casuals haha

I like the green lightsaber the most. Black suit luke with the green blade is a :fire: outfit.

Not super in tune with SW canon or anything, but I feel like the lightning attack thing is not a question of whether or not a sufficiently powerful Jedi could do it or not, but whether they should or would do so. Would using force lightning to attack a foe inherently make you not really a Jedi anymore..?

  12. Windu's purple saber is always going to be awesome. Luke does look great at the end of Jedi.

Did you ever hear the story about that? Samuel L. Jackson demanded he get a cool lightsaber that no one else had because he wanted his kids to be able to find him during the mega battle lol

  15. To quote from Star Wars.com, that's more or less the idea because it's specifically a "dark side" power:
Force lightning is a dark side ability used to torture, disfigure, and even kill one’s victims. Blue in color, Sith shoot Force lightning from their hands by calling on their hatred and aggressive feelings. However, while a deadly weapon, it is not unstoppable. Force lightning can be deflected and absorbed by a lightsaber, and select Jedi have proved able to neutralize the technique through the power of the light side.
But, again, the core of what makes someone a Jedi is built into the idea of how you use the Force. And using it for offensive violence is ... uh ... bad. Heh.

I just realized we haven't got a poster yet. Hope it's not like 3 months away.

Eh, haha I maybe take a sip if I’m eating popcorn. But I generally don’t eat much more than candy and then I’ll slowly drink at the hour left mark.

Before the Lord of the Ring movies, I think Hateful 8 was the last I can think of. Not sure if that is really high profile though.

The Hateful Eight on 60mm had an intermission. That’s the last time I had one in a theater that wasn’t a screening of an older movie. Even that was a film projection though.

The LOTR movies didn't have intermissions when I saw them! I vividly remember my bladder being ready to burst at the seams as Sam gives his speech at the climax of TTT.

It may be have a choice by the theater because I saw Fellowship more than once and it didn't always have one.

I almost never ever get a drink for the movie because of that reason. Are y'all not able to just not get a drink for 2-3 hours? Lol
