Makes me wonder how so many people on this site take the time to explain why certain views are problematic and then the SAME people can always come in with the exact same problematic takes every time. Makes me tired.

I feel like people just take it so damn personally if they're called out on anything or have anything explained to them, and either A. feel like it's a point of contention or B. just wanna move on from any argument so instead of listening they give a fake apology and move on. When really it should be C. actually listen to people hahaha.

Anna said something in a thread the other day that was like "If you feel called out I would like for you to quietly reflect on why that is" and it was one of my favorite posts and I think it'd solve everything

My wife subconsciously makes a "whoosh" noise when she opens doors sometimes and it's adorable

I love her so much I'm so lucky

 

I mean I can understand taking it somewhat personally, I have been there!! Thinking I had the right idea about something and getting defensive but what I really needed to do was step back and really think about what was being said to me. I've gotten much better at this over time because I've made an effort. And when you're the one in the same position being called out time and time again it crosses over into willful ignorance and a lack of respect for the people who have spent a lot of time on this site and often in their personal lives explaining themselves over and over again.

Anna is one of those people and that line was really great because I think it did make everyone step back and reflect.

It gets exhausting when it's the same people over and over again that somehow still refuse to look inwards to themselves to realize that hey, maybe I might be doing something wrong and should listen
