I'm super glad everyone spent a day getting mad and defending that Crenshaw ghoul and arguing about Pete Davidson and the military and respect and whatever. That was fun.

 

A tweet which completely ignores the 2nd half of the comment.

 

I’ve read the “second half” of the tweet multiple times and don’t understand how it makes the first better at all...

 

It doesn't make it better. Don't know why David keeps clinging to that as if it does.

 

Because it actually talks about the problem of inciting hatred/violence and making people unsafe, not about the (also shitty!) part of using 9/11 to score political points.

 

Not too surprising but still was a tiny bit worried at the prospect of an open seat to defend.

 

And that undermines what about the tweet you quoted outlying the issue with Pelosi’s milquetoast tweet?

 

I know the sentencing happening is just a coincidence but feels like a subtweet anyway

 

Because they're pretending she only said something about using 9/11 to attack people and didn't also say something about putting peoples lives in danger?

 

That’s not what that tweet says.

 

That's exactly what that tweet says. You have to literally ignore the 2nd half of statement to say "so the central point of the attack is fair"...the 2nd tweet half of the statement is a pretty obvious argument against that idea.

 

I feel like we haven't heard much about Harris since her great start.....I don't know how she is in debates but if she's any good I imagine she'll resurge to the front of the pack again once they get underway.

 

How? The central point of the attack is that Omar did something wrong in talking about 9/11. She did not. Nothing Pelosi says in those tweets addresses that at all. It ignores, or concedes, there may be truth to that bad-faith argument.

Here's the second tweet:

As we visit our troops in Stuttgart to thank them and be briefed by them, we honor our first responsibility as leaders to protect and defend the American people. It is wrong for the President, as Commander-in-Chief, to fan the flames to make anyone less safe.

This does not at all address the central point of the attack. The first sentence is worthless, the second is barely a condemnation and never once says anything about Omar or that she didn't do anything wrong.

 

The central point of attack, specifically in Trump's tweet, is to associate a black muslim woman with a terrorist attack that also happened to be carried out by Muslims. I don't even think it's that subliminal.
