The willful ignorance is astounding. As if today was the day this started. As if they hadn't been throwing her under the bus from the get go.Do you have short term memory problems?

Yeah, see? THIS is terrible. Tom Perez did terrible here. He's actually commented on it, and it was bad! Let's drag him for it. Let's not assume everyone else who hasn't said something yet is also with Tom Perez. Which reminds me: Keith Ellison hasn't tweeted about it yet either. I somehow doubt he's going to have something to say similar to Perez on this. Is he tacitly endorsing the attacks on Ilhan right now?

And Cuomo did terrible too, yikes. Pretending she's actually brushing 9/11 off and not talking about how Muslims have been targeted in this country because of an attack "some people" carried out. Gotta keep that Serious Newsman Who Questions Both Sides going I guess.

    Good for him.

    That’s 4 out of 19.

(Beto and Swallwell don’t count because they didn’t actually say Omar’s name and that they stood with her.)

  6. It starts to make a lot more sense why Ellison left congress.

That said I am happy as fuck that Ilhan is there and based on what she’s shown us in the past, I don’t think she’s gonna back down.

But I really do fear for her safety.

That’s about as wishy-washy as I’d expect from Beto.
Feel free to show me all the Dems putting out press releases stating their support from her. Your argument would actually make sense if there were droves of Dems supporting her away from social media and we were ignoring that. That is simply not the case. From day one Ilhan was left to defend herself, save for a small group of her constituents, and saying “yeah but you’re only looking at Twitter reactions from democrats,” is attempting to distract from the issue at large: she should’ve been supported from day one, the Dems should’ve shown the GOP that if they’re going to attack Ilhan that they’d have to take on the whole fucking party. They haven’t done that. They won’t do that. They’ll just let her suffer to keep their spot.

Perez is the chair of the DNC, Ellison is the AG of Minnesota. Not quite the same weight there

It’s almost like criticizing democrats who don’t do the right thing is good and gets results. Weird.

I don't think they're going to rush to put out press reports about it either, which is kind of my point. This just happened earlier today and a lot of these olds have already shown a pattern of not commenting on things for days at a time. They have boring generic press offices that have things like First 100 Days releases lined up and scheduled for posting and release and then that's it. Part of it is probably cowardice, but I think part of it is they're still stuck in the old way of doing things where they could take a few days to comment on things becuase no one had instant access to them at all times like we all do now.

I remember when everyone was mad at Pelosi for saying Omar's words weren't the best, and then Omar came out and said yeah maybe they weren't, I didn't understand the context of them, and then people were mad Pelosi wasn't defending her from being called anit-Semitic by Repubs, but then Pelosi said out loud multiple times that Omar was definitely not anti-Semitic. And it was like, okay, what did the 3 days or however long it was of saying Pelosi obviously does think Omar is anti-semitic or is too much of a coward to say otherwise actually accomplish? Do we think it was the online rage on social media that got Pelosi to say otherwise? Or was it just the usual pattern of events in how Pelosi comments on things? If we think it's the former, then I guess we should keep it up because that's a good thing...but I don't know if we can prove that's what it was. Most of the legislative aids always say it's the phone calls that make the difference, after all.

I dunno, I'll just sit over here and throw insults at Dan Crenshaw on twitter, it's more satisfying than tweeting at my congresswoman's non-active twitter account. I did send her an email asking her to publicly support Ilhan though.

Ellison was the last black Muslim in Congress, the seat that Ilhan won, and was the DNC co-chair 5 months ago. My point wasn't about "weight", it was about the assumption that folks not talking about it right NOW are actually tacitly endorsing it and are basically the same as Dan Crenshaw or Donald Trump because of that.

Personally I think it is a little more important for the top democrats to speak up for Omar, rather than people who’ve effectively disappeared from the national stage. And, well,

In which Rep Jayapal makes Berger delete his tweet, presumably saying that Dems weren't defending Omar, by linking a news story of Dems defending Omar.

And then waits an hour and a half after that to comment on it herself.

It's probably accurate to say her and a few of her staff spent that that hour and a half figuring out the best way to word a comment.
