I think it’s more just pointing out how many cops are unstable power hungry abusers, more making a point about cops being awful than supposed to be funny. At least that’s how I read it.

 

I dunno, reads to me more at the expense of the woman. I get that it's meant to be a funny critique in the way you say, but the joke would function in exactly the same way if it said "when you didn't stand on enough rakes as a child" with a picture of a woman holding a rake.

we shouldn't forget that "the average viewer" doesn't have the context that most people on this forum do, so for them Pete apologising to Dan for his remarks makes it seem like that person has merit and a place in modern society.

 

Pete’s dad died in 9/11, if there was a time to push back on Crenshaw weaponizing a terrorist attack to harass a congresswoman, nows the time. But I’m guessing Saturday will have nothing of the sort.
